A Large Number Of Small Dead Fish Have Been Recovered From Nandikalal Lagoon

A large number of small dead fish had been revovered
from a sea coast between Mulivaikkal and vattuvaikal in nandikadal lagoon of Mulathivu area it has been reported.

The rause for this has not yet been revealed and fishermen in the area believed a poisoning of a chemical or an enviornmental factor may have caused this.

As the bad smell is spreading in the area, fishermen are involved in removing the dead fish from the sea coast.

After a week since the floods and landslides claimed the lives of many in few districts of the country, still a large number of people including poor to rich and some big companies are flocking around those who are collecting essential items to distribute among the displaced and generously contributing as they can.

This is the hearbeat of Sri Lankans.Unlike in other countries sri lankans are always there to help each other as they can when a tragedy occurred.They have proved this so many times and other nations too can take a good example from them on humanity.

Still dry rations to water bottles,biscuits,milk powder ,cloths,soap,tooth brushes,toothpaste ,sanitary pads,candles,match boxes and so many other essential items are being donated by our countdymen and women to the displaced.

Even the cleaning of houses and wells in places floods have receded is taking place with the help of others.A large number of free medical camps arranged in many affected areas.

Isn' t this  what we called as proud to be a Sri Lankan.

Australian Government Provided 10 Special Boats For Rescue Operations In Adverse Weather Hit Areas

Image result for boats in sri lanka floodsAustralian Government has provided 10 special boats to the rescue operations carrying  out by tri forces in flood/landslide affected areas.

The boats will be used for transport activities of the people in flood hit areas according to the forces.

Ministry Of Fisheries Supplied 350 Boats And 100 Lifesaving Kits For Rescue Operations In Flood/Landslide Affected Areas

Image result for floods in sri lankaMinistry Of Fisheries has supplied 350 boats and 100 lifesaving kits  to rescue those who are stranded  in five districts affected with adverse weather conditions the Ministry has announced.

 Accordingly these boats and lifesaving kits are being used to rescue people stranded due to  floods and landslides in  Galle,Matara,Tangalle,Kalutara and Gampaha Districts .

Several Low Land Areas In Few Distrcits Still Submerged

Image result for floods in sri lankaAlthough the water levels of  overflowed rivers Kalu,Gin and Niwala receding at present several low land areas in Ratnapura,Galle and Matara are still under few feet of water according to the reports.

In Ratnapura ,Galle , Matara and Kalutara some areas submerged with 3 or 4 feet of water it has been revealed.

The Department of Meteorology has advised the people in adverse weather affected areas to be in vigilant  as around 100 mili  meter rain fall is possible in these areas during next 36 hours. 

Many areas in the island  including Colombo have received heavy showers time to time since  this morning(02).

If Rain Continues Landslides Are Possible In Seven Districts -NBRO

Related imageThe National Building Research Organization(NBRO) has today(02) announced that several areas in seven districts have been identified as risk areas of landslides if a rain fall continues in next 24 hours  . 

Accordingly rock falls, landslides and cut slope failures may  have occur in the areas identified in Ratnapura,Galle,Matara,Hambanthota,Nuwara Eliya ,Kalutara and Kegalle districts if the rain fall continues.

NBRO has began  inspecting around 1000 areas  which are at risk of landslides it has been reported.

The death toll due  to the adverse weather conditions still stands as 208 and 92 persons have been reported as missing up to  now and more than 677,000 persons displaced or affected  according to the Disaster Management Center.

Around 1735 houses have completely destroyed and 9432 houses have partially destroyed up to now due to the adverse weather the Center has stated.
