Senior Supreme Court Judge Priyasad Dep Sworn In As The New Supreme Court Judge

Most senior Supreme Court judge Priyasad Depp has taken oath as
 the 45th Chief Justice in Sri Lanka this morning(02) before the President Maithripala Sirisena in President's Official Residence in Colombo.

Earlier Constitutional Council had met and  selected the Supreme Court Judge Depp as the new Chief Justice of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Navy Have Arrested 13 Indian Fishermen Illegally Fishing In Lankan Waters

Sri Lanka Navy have arrested 13 Indian fishermen while illegally fishing in
Sri Lankan Waters near the Delft Island today(02).

Navy have also taken into  custody the two boats Indian Fishermen were in .The fishermen and the boats were handed over to the assistant director of fisheries in Jaffna District for future course of action .

Two Persons Arrested With 246 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis

Colombo District Anti Fraud Unit Officers had arrested two persons including a large scale Businessman selling Kerala Cannabis with 246 Kilo Grammes  of Kerala Cannabis in their possession in Western Province.

Accordingly the large scale Businessman has been arrested in Grandpass area in Colombo with 16 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis in his possession and through the information revealed by him another 230 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis had been taken into custody in Ganemulla area.

The suspects are due to be produced before the   Gampaha and Maligakande Magistrate Courts.

Financial Irregularities Not Occurred During The Tender Procedures Of Importing Cancer Drugs-Dr.Jayasundara Bandara

Financial Irregularities not occurred during the tender procedures of importing  Cancer Drugs to Sri Lanka recently as stated by some trade unions according to the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Jayasundara Bandara.

Addressing a Press Briefing held in the Ministry Of Health this afternoon(02) Dr.Bandara has stated that some of the Oncologists in Maharagama Apeksha(Cancer) Hospital recently heavily criticized the Cancer Drug imported from Russia to treat Breast Cancer patients and  now they changed their attitudes and prescribing the Drug for Cancer Patients without a doubt .

The experiment regarding  the Cancer Drug imported from Russia has done by the chairman of Independent Medicinal Regulatory Authority Professor Asitha De Silva who specialized on Medicinal Drugs and no one have an ordinary knowledge of Drugs can challenge the knowledge of an expert like his caliber Dr.Bandara has stressed.

Government Workers Are Allowed To Inspect Households And Gardens Without A Permission For Dengue Mosquito Breeding Places

Dengue Control rules and regulations in the country  had  changed by allowing Government Workers  to inspect  any household and garden without a permission for Dengue Mosquito Breeding Places according to the Minister Of Health Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

"Now Government Workers are free to enter any household and garden to inspect Dengue Mosquito Breeding Places without a permission .Even the fine imposed on a person  by a Court for maintaining Dengue Mosquito Breeding Places has been increased to Rs.25,000 from Rs.5000 "Minister has stressed.

While addressing a function held in Colombo to hand over appointments to 500 Dengue Mosquito Control Assistants appointed to Western Province ,Health Minister has instructed the Assistants to make a target to control spreading of Dengue in Western Province within four months without considering work permanency and basic salary.
