Indian Foreign Secretary Dr.Jayshankar Arrived In Sri Lanka For An Official Tour

Indian Foreign Ministry Secretary
Dr.S.Jayshanker has arrived in Sri Lanka this evening (18) for a two day official visit.

During his stay in Sri Lanka the Indian Foreign Secretary is due to hold talks with higher officials on collaboration and corporation in various sectors between Sri Lanka and India including Power , Highways and Airport .


Two Youths Were Arrested With A Grenade And A Firearm

Police have arrested two youths with a
hand grenade and a pistol in their possession in Divithuruwatte area at Elpitiya (Southern Province).

Police have taken into custody a hand grenade made in a foreign country and a ,9 Mili Meter locally made Pistol in possession of  the 21 and 24 year old suspects .

The arrestes were made during an  investigations carried out on a murder case .

A Youth Was Shot And Killed In A Reserve At Madirigiriya

An unidentified person had shot and

killed a 28 year old youth in a forest reserve  at Madirigiriya(North Central Province) area  last night(17) it has been reported.

Police believes a person came to the reserve  to hunt animals might have shot the youth on his way .

The deceased has been identified as a resident in Madirigiriya area.

Three Army Personal Had Been Arrested Over Assaulting Former Deputy Editor Of Nation Paper

Three Army Personal including Army Major had been arrested by the officers
   of special investigations Unit belonging to the Criminal Investigations Division (CID)today (18) over abducting and assaulting the former deputy editor of the Nation Paper Keith Noyar  in 2008.

The three suspects are due to produce before the acting Magistrate in Mount Lavinia after questioning on the assault.

Former Deputy Editor Keith Noyar was abducted and assaulted by a group of people on 22nd of May 2008 while on his way home.

Fire Erupted In A Multi Storied Shop In Pettah Brought Under Control

Fire Brigade has doused a fire erupted
in a multi stotied shop selling plastic items located at a third storey of a storied building in first cross street ,Pettah this morning (18).

Nine trucks belonging to Fire Brigade were used to douse the fire it has been revealed .

Fire fighters have struggled hours to control the fire as it spreads faster due to the plastic ware and toys stored in the shop.
