Sri Lankan Airlines Cancelled All Chennai Bound Flights Temporarily

Due to the Cyclonic Storm "Vardha'  which hit some areas in Tamil Nadu state including Chennai, all Chennai Bound Sri Lankan Airlines flights had been cancelled temporarily with effect from today(12)  according to Sri Lankan Airlines.

Accordingly Chennai Bound Sri Lankan Airlines flights  UL-121,UL-123,UL-127 and UL-129 had  been  cancelled and passengers who are flying Chennai are advised to contact Sri Lankan Airlines to find out new time tables of Chennai Bound Sri Lankan Airlines  flights .

The Deputy Sri Lankan High Commission in Chennai has stated that additional planes would be used to transport passengers soon after the storm moves away from Chennai..

Police Arrested Two Persons Along With 2000 Illicit Liquor Bottles At Marawila

Police Officers attached to Marawila Crimes Investigations Division had arrested two persons along with 2000 bottles of Illicit Liquor ,40 Barrels of Goda and equipment used to manufacture illicit liquor during a raid carried out at a Illicit Liquor Manufacturing Plant in Mawila,Marawila(North Western Province).

The raid was carried out based on a tip off received by the Police.The suspects who are residents of Giriulla and Chilaw areas due to be produced before the Marawila Magistrate Court.

A Sri Lankan Airlines Flight Returned To Katunayake Airport After Leaving Chennai

A Plane belonging to Sri Lankan Airlines left Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport this morning to Chennai,India had returned Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport due to the adverse weather condition  prevailing in and around  Chennai International Airport at present .

The Sri Lankan flight UL-127 had returned Katunayake International Airport after leaving Chennai.

Meanwhile due to the adverse weather condition in Chennai ,an Emirates Flight left Chennai from Dubai had landed  Katunayake Airport it has been reported.

A Businessman Was Shot And Killed At Meetiyagoda

A businessman who owns a fruit stall had been shot and killed today(12) by an unidentified gunman at Meetiyagoda (Southern Province)area.

The businessman was dead  at the time when admitted to  the Batapola Base Hospital it has been reported.The body of the deceased who was a resident of Meetiyagaoda area remain at the Hospital for an autopsy according to the Meetiyagoda Police.

The cause behind  the gun shooting has not yet been revealed.Police have launched a search operation to arrest the unidentified gunman who shot and killed the businessman.
