A Code Of Conduct Adapted For Parliament members

Sri Lankan Parliament has today (10) adapted a code
of conduct for it"s members and the finalized copy of the conduct was tabled and handed over  to the House Speeker Karu Jayasuriya for his approval.

The aim of this Code of Conduct is to support Parliament members to exercise,perform and discharge their powers ,duties and functions to fulfill their responsibilities sources stated.

The Code Of Conduct for Parliamentariens comprised of thirteen sections which explained the duties ,rule of conduct behaviour,procedure for inquiry and sanctions anong others.

The code was prepared with the  help of Legal draftsman and based on proposals  and comments made by Parliament Members.

Third Reading Of The Budget Passed With 110 Majority Votes

The third reading of the  2017 Budget has passed this
evening at Parliament with a majority of 110 votes ,while 165 members of the Parliament voted for and 55 members voted against it.

For the first time in Sri Lanka an electronic voting system was also used during the voting at Parliament today except vote by showing hands.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake had presented the 2017 annual budget to the parliament on 10th Of November.

Tense Situation Occurred At Hambanthota Port When Navy Personal Intervened To Disperse Protesting Port Workers

A tense situation had occurred at Hambanthota(Southern Province) Port this morning
when Navy Personal had intervened to disperse the port workers who had protested against an agreement signed between Sri Lanka and China and to launch two ships which anchored at port blocked by the protestors.

A group of persons including some buddhist monks arrived in the scene had attacked the protesting Hambanthota Port workers and journalists gathered there  with clubs   and guns it has been reported.

Navy personal had latee  launched the two blocked ships anchored at the Hambanthota Port .

Two Persons Were Killed And Two Others Injured Due To A Three Wheeler-Lorry Collision

Two persons had been killed and another two were
injured and hospitalized due to a Three Wheeler-Lorry collision occurred at kahatagastenna area on Kegalle-Awissawella main road today (10).

Four critically injured  persons who were travelling in the Three Wheeler had been admitted to Karawanella Hospital for treatment and two of them succumbed to tneir injuries after admission to the hospital.

One critically injured person had been transferred to Colombo National Hospital for furthar treatment accordung to sources.

The deceased were identified as residents of Boralankada and Dehiowita areas.

Police have arrested the Lorry driver regarding the accident and conducting further investigations on the accident.
