President Gave Assuarance To Private Bus Unions That The Traffic Fines Will Be Increased After Consulting Relevant Parties

President Maithripala Sirisena has assured the Private Bus Operators Associations this morning that the Traffic fines will be increased only after consulting with Bus Associations according to All Ceylon Private Bus Operators Association.

During discussions held between President Sirisena and representatives of the  Bus Operators Association this morning President has assured this the Association has stressed.

President has also informed Bus Unions that he will appoint a special committee to look after the issues of Private Bus Operators.

Private Bus/Three Wheeler Unions Called Off Their Strike Action

Private Bus/Three Wheeler Unions have called off their island wide strike action this morning as President Maithripala Sirisena has given a discussion for them to discuss their problems the Unions have announced.

Private Buses and A section of Three Wheeler drivers had launched an Island Wide strike since midnight last Thursday (01) to oppose the budget proposal on increasing the minimum traffic violations fine to Rs.2500.

Ten SLTB Buses Attacked Yesterday At Panadura And Hambanthota

Two persons including a Bus driver and a passenger
had injured as  An unidentified persons had pelted stones at around ten Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB)Buses at panadura,(Colombo)Tangalle and Hungama in Hambanthota district (Southern Province) areas yesterday (02) evening it has been reported.

Accordingly two persons injured during  the pelting of stones at eight SLTB Buses between  wekada and eluwila areas and side glasses of these buses had broken the Police have stated.Another two long distance SLTB Buses being attacked at Tangalle and Hungama areas according to reports.

Two Former Higher Officials Attached To Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Had Been Remanded

Colombo fort Magistrate has today (02) remanded the
former chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Bhashwara Gunaratne and former Director General of the Authority Dr.D.S Jayaweera until 05th of December over Rs.5.8 million financial irregularity occured at the Authority during tourism promotion acrivities.

The two former officials have been remanded after they appeared before the Colombo Fort Magistrate Court today to face a case filed against them on the financial irregularity
