Eight Para Medical Catagories To Launch A 48 Hour Island Wide Strike From 8 A.M Tomorrow (16)

Para medical officers belonging to eight catagories are
due to launch a 48 hour island wide strike from 8 a.m tomorrow (16) demanding solutions for two of their service demands.

Accordingly Eight Catagories of Para Medical officers namely  public health inspectors ,public health laboratory technicians,health services  entamalogy officers,EEG technicians,ECG technicians,Dental technicisns,Dental Therapists and Eye Technologists are due to launch the island wide strike from 8 a.m  tomorrow (16) to 8 a.m on Friday (18) demanding to  stop transferring techincal facts included in training courses of these caragories to other services and to stop recruiting dispensers to the Para medical service according to the Joint Confederation of Para Medical Services.

Three Para Medical catagories ,Public health inspectors,health services entamalogy officers and public health laboratory technicians had launched an island wide one day strike last week as well demanding solutions for their demands.

Airport Customs Officers Arrested Four Chinese Nationals With 410 Cigarette Cartons

Airport customs officers have today (15) arrested four chinese nationals who attempted to smuggle 410 Cigarette cartons illegally to the country at
Katunayake Bandaranaike Interational Airport.

The value of the 410 Cigarette cartons brought by the suspects  is estimated as Rs.3.2 million according to the Airport customs officers.

The four suspects including two females were arrested on their arrival at the Airport around 5.45 a.m it has been revealed.

Airport customs officers are further  investigating on the incident.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(COPD) Is On The Increase

Addressing a Media Seminar on "International Chronic Respiratory Diseases Day" held this morning (15) at Health Education Bureau in Colombo ,Dr.Gunasena has stressed that "COPD" is a group of lung conditions which cause breathing difficulties and it included the respiratory diseases Chronic Bronchitis(long term inflammation of the airways) and "Emphysema"(Damage to the air Sacs in the lungs).

The Disease is a common condition which mainly affects middle aged or older adults who smoke and it can affect  those subjected to passive smoking as well it has been revealed.Many people do not realize they  have the disease. Although treatment can help to keep the condition  under control, the breathing problems occurred as a result of the disease and  get gradually worse over  time and can limit one's normal activities.

The symptoms of the "COPD" are Increasing breathlessness particularity when you are active ,A persistent chesty cough with phlegm ,  Persistent Wheezing and Frequent Chest Infections according to the Doctors.

Thirty Eight Out Of The Sixty Two Members Of "Ava" Crimes Group Had Been Arrested- Minister Of Law,Order And Southern Development

Responding to a question raised by leader of  Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna(JVP) MP Anura Kumara Dassanayke at Parliament today(15)  Minister Rathnayake has stated that eight leaders of the "Ava" Group are due to be arrested soon  .

"Ava" group has imported it's first sword from Brazil via India and the group has made several weapons by itself Minister has stressed.

Cabinet Has Decided Not To Increase The Water Tariffs By 30% As Announced By Water Board

The Water Supply and Drainage Board has last Saturday(12) announced that the Board has decided to increase water tariffs by 30% with effect from 01st of December.
