Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission Has Received Complaints Against The Arrests Of 11 "Ava"Group Members

The relatives of the 11 persons who were arrested in
Northern Province on suspicion of "Ava" crimes gang members had complained against the arrests to the Jaffna Branch of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka.

The relatives of the arrested suspects have stated in their complaints that the arrests which made under the terrorism prevention act were illegal.

 Human Rights Commission officials have stated that they will investigate on the complaints .

The 11 suspects arrested in Northern Province were brought to Colombo and remanded under the court orders.

A Person Believed To be A Member of "Ava" Crimes Gang Arrested In Mulathivu

A person believed to be belonging to the "Ava" Crimes
Gang which terrorising several parts in Jaffna (Northern Province) had been arrested yesterday (14) in Mulathivu area by the Terrorism Investigations Division officials.

The suspect has been identified as a 20 year old resident in vinayagapuram,Mulathivu area.He earlier worked at a shop in Chunnakam area in Jaffna and later believed to be joined the "Ava"crimes gang according to the officials.

A Hand Bomb Was Recovered From The Kanthale Tank

A hand bomb was recovered from the Kanthale Tank
(Eastern Province)this morning according to the reports.

A group of fishermen who had gone  fishing in the tank recovered the hand bomb and informed about it to the police.

Kanthale Police are investigating on the incident.

Joint Opposition MP Wimal Weerawanshe Was Questioned By FCID

The leader of the National Freedom Front and Joint Opposition MP Wimal Weerawansha had today (14)
given a statement to the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division(FCID) regarding an  allegations leveled against him on misusing vehicles belonging to the Presidential Secretariet ,Colombo during previous regime.

The Joint Opposition MP Weerawansha was questioned by the FCID Officials by nearly four hours regarding the allegation leveled against him it has been reported.

The MP was asked to appear before the FCID on 09t h of  November to record a statement on the allegations   ,However he arrived in FCID that day and left early by complaining that he was sick.
