Six Labourers Were Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Collapsing Of A Wall At Nuwara Eliya

Six labourers were injured and hospitalized  due to a collapsing of a wall at a new construction site near Abeypura Bridge in Nuwara Eliya (Central Province) today (05).

The injured were admitted to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital for treatment and their condition is not serious sources have revealed.

The six labourers were involved in construction work at the site when the accident has coccurred according to the Police Headquarters.

Nuwara Eliya Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

A Group Belonging To TNA Party To Break Coconuts To Bless Hillary clinton's Victory In US Presidential Elections

A group belonging to Tamil National Alliance(TNA) in Jaffna has planned to break 1008 coconuts and light the same amount of  candles  on 08th of November at historic Kandasamy Kovil in Nallur,Jaffna to bless the victory of Democratic Party Candidate Hillary Clinton at the forthcoming US Presidential Elections the Press Trust Of India News Agency has reported.

The victory of the Democratic Party Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton would be important for the future of Tamil Community in Northern Part of Sri Lanka the organizers of breaking coconuts  have stated.


A Customs Officer And His Driver Has Been Arrested While Transporting A Stock Of Foreign Liquor

The special narcotic raid unit of the Ministry Of Finance had today (05) arrested a customs officer and his driver while transporting 60 bottles of foreign liquor illegally by a car in Colombo.

The stock of foreign liquor bottles arrested is worth around Rs.400,000 according to the Police.

Both suspects were released on personal bails
of Rs.200,000 each after being produced before the Maligakanda Magistrate Court.The case regarding the transporting foreign liquor bottles illegally is due to hear next friday.

Meanwhile the Department Of Customs has interdicted the suspected customs officer aftee his arrest.

The special narcotic raid unit of the Finance Ministry has carried out the raid with assistance of Sri Lanka Customs,Police Special Task Force and Army Intelligence Division .

Late Pandith Amaradeva Had Bid Farewell To The Nation This Evening

One of the greatest musicians Sri Lanka has ever produced Late Pandith Dr.W.A.D Amaradeva had bid farewell to the nation this evening amidst gathering of his family members,artists,politicians including President and Prime Minister of the Country ,Religous Clergy and a large number of his fans young and old at Independence Square in Colombo.

Late Pandith Amaradeva who passed away last Thursday (03) following a cardiac arrest at the age of 88 has been cremated with full state honors this evening after an emotional  funeral.

Addressing at the Funeral President Maithripala Sirisena has said that government expects to establish a Center to commemorate Late Amaradeva call Amaradeva Center  in the near future.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe in his short speech stated that late Amaradeva was  a national treasure .
