Appropriation Bill For 2017 Has Been Gazetted

The Appropriation  Bill for the year 2017 had been gazetted and  due to be presented  to the  Parliament on 20 th October according to government sources.

According to the  Appropriation Bill  for 2017 the estimated expenditure for the services from 01st of January 2017 to 31st of December 2017 is one thousand eight hundred nineteen billion and five million and fourty four thousand rupees.

The Annual. budget Proposals is due to be presented to the Parliament on 10th of November it has been reported.

Smoking Habit Can Be Reduced Through Increasing The Cigarette Prices-Health Minister

Image result for cigarette prices clipartThrough increasing the Cigarette Prices smoking habit can be reduced by 4-5% according to the Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

Addressing a function held at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo the Health Minister has stated that the Health Ministry will soon introduce a plain Cigarette Pack without any picture on it in view of reducing the smoking rate further  in the country.

Govenment has recently increased the price of a Cigarette by Rs.7.

Sri Lanka had adapted three methods recommended by the World Health Organization to reduce smoking rate in the country he has stressed.

FCID Has Summoned Former Centarl Bank Governor Ajith Cabral

Image result for fcid in sri lankaThe Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) has today(06) recorded a statement from former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivaad Cabral over an allegation leveled agaisnt him on misappropriation of state funds when canvassing government's bid to hold 2018 commonwealth games in Sri Lanka.

The former Central Bank Governor had given a statement to the FCID regarding the same allegation on last Monday as well.

Tea Estate Workers Had Protested At Ehaliyagoda By Blocking The Colombo-Ratnapura Main Road

Image result for protest in clip artThe Colombo-Ratnapura main road had blocked this morning at Ehaliyagoda Town by over one hundrad Tea Estate Workers who had staged a protest by demanding to increase their daily wage from Rs.620 to Rs.1000.

A heavy traffic has been reported due to this situation according to the reports.

The Minister of Labour John Deneviratne had yesterday(05) informed the Parliament that the Trade Unions representing Tea Estate Workers had agreed the daily wage increase proposed by the government for the workers from Rs.620 to Rs.730 .
