Two Persons Were Arrested At Buththala While Transporting An Expensive Timber Logs Illegally

Buththala Police have arrested two persons who had transported 32 logs of expensive timber including Teak illegally at unawatuna area in Buththala .

The lorry which had been used to transport the timber too taken into custody by the police.

The suspects were remanded until 19th of September after been produced before Wellawaya Magistrate Court.Buththala Police are conducting further  investigations on the incident.

Twin Brothers Who Had Gone To Sea In A Trawler Had Drowned And Disappeared

Twin brothers  who had gone to sea in a deep sea fishing  trawler had drowned and disappeared in seas off Negambo today (17) according to the police.

As one brother had jumped into the sea to corrrct a technical defect of the trawler in a sea area of 400 nautical miles deep and disappeared, The other brother  jumped to rescue him and faced the same fate it has been reported.

Police have launched a rescue operation in search of missing persons.

A Youth Was Killed Due To A Private Bus-Three Wheeler Collision At Dambulla

A 24 year old youth was killed  today (17) due to a Private Bus-Three Wheeler collision occurred  at Palwehera area on Dambulla-Habarana Road according to the Dambulla police.

The deceased who was the Three Wheeler Driver had succumbed to his injuries on the way to the  Hospital.

The body of the deceased had been sent to Dambulla Hospital and the driver of the Private Bus had arrested by the Police regarding the accident.

A Female Was Killed And Another Twelve Were Injured Due To A Rampaging Elephant At Saman Devalaya

A female was killed and another twelve persons injured and hospitalized following  an Elephant belonging to the Saman Maha Devalaya in Ratnapura went on  rampage before the annual procession (perahera) of the Devalaya last night.

The Injured were admitted to the Ratnapura General Hospital for treatment.

More Than One Hundrad Small Shops Had Been Destroyed In Kilinochchi Due To A Fire

More than one hundred small shops located at public  market near the Bus Depot at Kilinochchi (Northern Province) had been destroyed following a sudden fire erupted around 9 p.m  last (16) night it has been reported.

Due to the prevailing dry weather condition in Kilinochchi Area these days fire had spread rapidly and  the flames had been  doused by the Fire Brigade in Kilinochchi along with Army, Air Force and  Police Personal by this morning.

The cause of the fire has been identified as a technical default of electricity system and no casualties reported  due to the fire according  to the authorities .

Kilinochchi Police are conducting an investigations on the incident.
