Around 26 Persons Were Injured Due To A Paasenger Bus-Truck Collision On Southern Expressway

southern expressway க்கான பட முடிவுAround 26 persons including 14 females  were injured and hospitalized as a passenger bus traveling from Colombo to Galle had crashed with a truck involving  in maintenance work at 26th KM Post between Galanigama and Dodangoda interchanges on the Southern Expressway this noon.

The truck was parked on the road at the time of the accident and several workers involved in maintenance work there received critical injuries as a result of the accident according to the Police.

Joint Opposition MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage Was Arrested

arrested க்கான பட முடிவுThe Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested the Joint  Opposition  MP for Kandy District Mahindananda Aluthgamage this morning on charges of money laundering after he arrived at CID headquarters to give a statement regarding the charges.

The Former Sports Minister Aluthgamage had been arrested under the prevention of Money Laundering Act according to the Police.

The Arrested MP is due to produce before Colombo Magistrate this evening.

Kaduwela Magistrate Issued A Court Order To Doctors Who Occupying The Education Ministry Building

Kaduwela Magistrate has today(15)  issued a court order to the group of doctors who are occupying the Ministry. of Education building at Isurupaya, Battaramulla by demanding popular schools for their children in the areas they are currently working, to vacate the building.

Around two hundred doctors who received transfers have been occupying the Education Ministry building since yesterday(14) it has been reported.

Around 4000 Persons Commit Suicide Annually n Sri Lanka--Director General Of Health Services

Around 4000 persons commit suicide annualy in Sri Lanka and majority of them are males according to the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala.

Addressing at a Special press briefing held today
(14) at Health Education Bureau in Colombo regarding  International Suicide Prevention Day which fell on 10th of September, Dr.Mahipala had stated that the  number of Males who have committed suicide in Sri Lanka  is four times higher than females.

The Suicide ratio in Sri Lanka stands  at 100,000 :14.7 and internationally it stands at 100,000: 11.4.

According to the Police Reports in 2014  the main reason for committing suicides in SrI Lanla  is family disputes and  harassment  received from spouse.The second major reason for suicides has been identified  as Termination of Love Affairs Dr.Mahipala has further added.

The other reasons  behind suicides in Sri Lanka are chronicle diseases,Physical Inability,Mental Disorders and Economic  Problems  he has revealed.

Chanuka Ratwatte And Four Others Were Remanded Over Financial Fraud

Chanuka Ratwatte and four others who were arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) this morning have been remanded until 28th of September by the Colombo Fort Magistrate this
evening.

The suspects were produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate this evening after arrested over Rs.120 million financial fraud.

Chanuka Ratwatte is the son of former Defense Secretary late Anuruddha Ratwatte and brother of the  United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Lohan Ratwatte.

Ayurvedic Drugs Manufacturing Corporation Has Closed Down Due To A Tense Situation

Ministry of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine has  closed down the Ayurvedic Drugs
Manufacturing Corporation at Nawinna ,Maharagama until further further notice due to a tense situation occurred at the Corporation premises this evening.

The tense situation has occurred as a result of the protest campaign launched by a group of workers in front of the Ayurvedic Drugs
Manufacturing Corporation this evening by demanding the removal of chairman and managing director of the Corporation.
