Matale Police Have Recovered Around One Hundred Fire Arms Buried In Matale

Image result for recoveredMatale Police have today(09) recovered around one hundred decomposing fire arms buried near the Matale District Secretariat Premises .

Police have recovered the stock of fire arms during an excavations carried out near the Divisional Secretariat premises for construction work  it has been reported.

Matale Police are further investigating  on the incident.

A Coca Cola Bottle contains nine teaspoons of Sugar that is around 35 Grammes although the daily requirement of Sugar for a child is four teaspoons or around 19 Grammes and due to this situation Children who are  drinking  Cola Bottles often  are prone to non communicable diseases easily According to Minister of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

Speaking at a press briefing held in Galle Face Court-2 of the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo this noon during the final day of the World Health Organization's South East Asia Regional Health Minister's Summit ,Sri Lankan Health Minister has stated the importance of reducing the consumption of Sugar by the Population to reduce the spreading of Diabetes in Sri Lanka.

As Diabetes is one of the four major non communicable diseases which most of the Sri Lankans dying  of annually Health Ministry will soon introduce the color code system known as sugar coat traffic light system which indicate the sugar levels contains in a food or drink bottle to sugary food items available in the  market he has stated.

This Color Code System has already been  implemented for Sugary Drinks known as Soft Drinks in Sri Lanka since 01st of August he has stressed.


In near future steps will be taken to impose tax for Sugary Drinks based on the sugar levels contain in a Drink Bottle Health Minister has stated."It Doesn't matter who are opposing it will take stern action against those soft drink manufacturers who are manufacturing soft drinks by using more than four teaspoons of sugar.In United Kingdom such a system has been implemented and Sri Lanka is the first country in the South East Asia region to implement a color code system for soft drinks"  Minister has stressed.

Health Ministers Of Eleven South East Asian Countries Have Raised Their Voices On Migrant Health Issues

Image result for WHOThe eleven Health Ministers of the World Health Organization's South East Asia Region has yesterday(08) called for focused attention to address the health needs of Migrant Population as it has been revealed that every one in seven people globally is a Migrant ,Refugee or an Internally Dispalced Person and countries across the South East Asia Region host to large Migrant Populations.

According to the Director Of WHO's South East Asia Region Dr.Poonam Khetrapal Singh as Health Leaders we must tackle the health problems that affect Migrant Poupaltions."We need to construct better health information systems to collect  data on the health issues of Migrants.Institute Policy and Legal Frameworks that facilitate greater health care access,and create inclusive health systems sensitive to the needs of  Migrants" Dr.Singh has stated.

As Thailand,India,Bangaldesh and Indonesia in the Sout East Asia Region named among the top ten countries witnessing large movements of people in Asia Health and Migration are key concerns of member countries across the region.Migration poses greater risk and vulnerbility to infectious diseases ,mental health disorders,maternal and neonatal mortality,substance use,alcoholism,malnutrition,violence and non communicable diseases .As Migration continues to accelerate at unprecedented levels ,we are presented with an opportunity to come together as a region to ensure that Migrants are able to access adequate helath coverage she has stressed.

At the WHO Regional Committee meeting here, Member countries shared experiences in addressing this growing regional issue, including the potential of infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance spread Dr.Singh has further stated.

The ongoing Health Ministers Summit is due to be concluded today(09) and the press briefing will be held at Galle Face Court-02 in Colombo at 12 noon today.
