Tax Revenue Of The Government Has Been Increased By Rs.100 Billion This Year

Image result for tax revenueThe tax revenue of the government for this year has been increased by 22% when compared to last year by Rs.100 billion according to the Cabinet Media Spokesman MP Gayantha Karunathilake.

Accordingly tax income earned by excise and customs departments contributes more to the total tax revenue  and their tax income increased by 22% and 40% respectively the Cabinet Spokesman has stated.

These facts were revealed during the Cabinet Press Briefing held at Government Information Department in Narahenpita this morning.

Four Elephants Including An Elephant Calf Were Killed Due To A Tragic Accident Near Madu Area

Image result for herd of elephantsFour Elephants including an elephant calf were killed as they had been collided with a running passenger  train near Madu (in northern province) in the wee hours of this morning.

This tragic accident had  occurred the railway stations between Madu and Chettikulam areas while the herd of elephants was walking across the newly upgraded railway line that runs through a jungle area it has been reported.According to the reports one of the baby elephants  among the herd had been dragged away around 300 meters along the rail track after being hit by the train.

This was reported as the worst accident in Sri Lankan history involving animals.No passengers have been injured due to the accident .

The officials of the wild life department and parayanakulam police are conducting an investigation on the accident.

Note-As an elephant lover would like to express the hope that they would be born as humans in their next birth would not meet a tragic accident like this.

Four Members In The Same Family Have Been Drowned In Souhern Sea Coast Off Balapitiya While Bathing

Four persons in the same family have been drowned in the southern sea coast off Balapitiya(Southern Province) this evening while bathing there according to the Ahungalla police.

The bodies of the two females including a school girl  who were among the drowned victims have been recovered and  two  male victims still missing the Police have stated.

The Four victims who were sea bathing  were suddenly  dragged away into the sea by strong currents it has been reported.

Sri Lanka Beat Australia In The Third Test Match By 163 runs

Sri Lanka"s Off Spinner Rangana Herath has taken 13 wickets in the match as Sri Lanks beat Australia by 163 runs in the third and final Test Cricket Match which concluded at the SSC Cricket Grounds in Colombo short while ago.

By chasing 324 runs for victory Australians were all out for 160 runs in the second innings.

With this win Sri Lanka beat Australians in the three match Murali-Warne Test Series as 3-0 and it is the first time in country's Test Cricket history that a Sri Lankan Team whitewashed the world number one Australian Cricket team in a test match series.

Off Spinner Rangana Herath has been named as Man of the Series. Herath has taken 6 wickets 81 runs in the Australia's first innings and 7 wickets for 64 runs in the second innings.

The important  feature of this test match series was although Sri Lankan Cricket Team beat Australians in all three matches in this series before the  series  Sri Lanka recorded only a single win against Australia during last 33 years.

379 all out and Second Innings 160 all out.

FCID Has Detained A Female Director Of N.R,Consultants Over Money Laundering Charges

The police financial crimes division(FCID )has yesterday (16) detained  one of the directors of N.R Consultants and Gowers Corporation owned by MP Namal Rajapakshe ,Nithya Senani Samaranayake over her involvement in money laundering worth Rs.45 million it has been reported.

After being produced before the Colombo Magistrate Court the female director was remanded until 22nd of August.

The court has also ordered to remand MP Namal Rajapakshe and Suriya Bandara Ganegoda until 22nd of August over the financial irregularity occurred when purchasing of shares.
