Former Minister Johnston Fernando Has Given A Statement To FCID

Image result for financial crimes investigation divisionThe former Minister Johnston Fernando has today(10) given a statement to Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division regarding an allegation leveled against him on importing of 222,717 metric tonnes of Rice to "Sathosa"without a cabinet approval when he was the Minister.

The former minister Fernando had recently given a statement  to Presidential Commission Of Inquiry regarding the same allegation .

Imprisoned National Freedom Front Media Spokesman Mohommad Muzammit Has Been Released On Bail

Image result for release on bailThe Media Spokesman of the National Freedom Front(NFF) Mohommad Muzammil who was detained and remanded last June over misusing of a vehicle belonging to the Presidential Secretariet in 2010 during the previous regime, has been granted bail by Colombo Fort Magistrate today(10).

The Media Spokesman NFF who is also a former MP was released on a cash bail of Rs.25,000 and two personal bails of Rs.1 million each after being produced before the Magsitrate.

The Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division(FCID) has detained the Muzammil on 20th of June after recorded a statement of him regarding the allegation leveled against him.

 The FCID has informed the court today that the NFF Media Spokesman has misused a vehicle belonging to Presidential Secretariet and deposited funds around Rs.6.2million in his wife's accounts which obtained from the State Engineering Corporation to purchase an official  vehicle.

Cabinet Has Given Approval To Draft A Special Deposit Account Act Which Target The Foreigners

The Cabinet has given the approval to draft the Special Deposit Account Act which allowes to    grant residency visas for foreigners who bring a large amount of foreign money to Sri Lanka .

Accordingly under the proposed act a foreigner who bring US 300,000 to Sri Lanka will be given 10 year residency visa the Government has announced.

Howver according to the proposal made by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake to draft the above mentioned act these residency visa holders will not entitled to employed in Sri Lanka.Through these foreigners who bring a large amount of foreign money to Sri Lanka a demand will create for products and services here and as a result it will provide employment opportunities and business parrtners for Sri Lanka the government has stated.

A Man Was Killed Due To A Wild Elephant Attack At Wellawaya

A 53 Year old person was killed due to an attack by a wild elephant at Galpoththaara in Ethiliwewa ,Wallawaya area yesterday[09] according to the Wellawaya  Police.

The critically injured person has died after admitted to the Wellawaya Hospital.Wellawaya Police are conducting further investigations on the incident.

Sri Lanka Navy Have Rescued Four Indian Fishermen Who Were Stranded In Their Boat

Sri Lanka Navy Personal have rescued four Indian Fishermen who were stranded in their boat in the western seas off Sri Lanka  on Last Monday after their boat developed  an engine trouble it has been reported.

Navy Personal have  taken the boat along with the four fishermen to the Dikowita Fisheries Harbor and provided food and necessary first aid to the fishermen  Navy sources have stated.

The  steps had been taken to repair the engine trouble of the boat  and the rescued. Indian fishermen had released at the International maritime boundary line  the sources have revealed.
