International Monetary Fund(IMF)Approved US Dollars 1.5 Billion Loan To Sri Lanka As A Support To Economic Reforms

Image result for international monetary fundThe International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Executive Board has approved US Dollars 1.5 Billion loan for Sri Lanka for a three year period to support Sri Lankan Government's economic reforms the IMF has announced today(04).

According to the IMF out of the loan approved US Dollars 168.1 million will be provided to Sri Lanka as the first installment and the remain will be provided in six installments subjected to quarterly reviews .

"Despite the positive growth momentum,Sri Lanka's economy is beginning to show signs of strain from an increasingly difficult external environment and challenging policy  adjustments "the IMF has stated from the press release issued today(04).

WHO Provided Rs.1 Million To Provide Facilities For Flood And Landslide Victims

Image result for world health organizationThe World Health Organization (WHO) has provided Rs.1 Million for Ministry Of Health to provide facilities for flood and landslide victims.Another Rs.6 million is due to provide shortly in  this regard the Sri Lankan Office Of WHO has announced.

According to a WHO release the organization has provided hygiene kits,telecommunication equipment and chlorine tablets to the Ministry Of Health and supported the deployment of medical teams to flood and landslide affected areas with logistic  supplies.

Defense Ministry Has Announced A General Amnestry Period For Tri Force Deserters

Accordingly the deserters attached to Army,Navy and Air Force will receive this Amnesty Period.

Leftist JVP Members Statged A Demonstration Infront Of Colombo Fort Railway Station Against VAT Hike

The leftist Janatha Wimukthi Peramuna(JVP) has today(03)staged a demonstration in front of Colombo Fort Railway Station against the recent VAT(Value Added Tax) hike implemented by the government which caused a price hike of several commodities and vehicles.

The demonstration was held under the patronage of JVP Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake and several other JVP members .The JVP has stated  that the increasing of VAT by 4% from 11% to 15% is a burden for public.
