Three Flights Bound For Katunayake Air Port Diverted To Cochin And Mattala Air Ports

Image result for katunayake airportThree Flights bound at Katunayake Bamdaranaike International Air Port have diverted to Cochin Air Port in India and Mattala International Air Port in Hambanthota  due to adverse weather conditions prevailed in Colombo it has been reported.

The three flights arrived from Malaysia ,India and Dubai have been diverted according to the authorities.

Due to the heavy showers and strong winds prevailing in the country since last Saturday floods and long travel delays have been reported from many parts in the island.

Irrigation Department Requested People Living On The Banks Of Six Rivers To Be Alert On Floods

The Irrigation Department has today (16)requested people living on the banks of  Six Rivers in the island to be on alert on floods as the water levels of them are increasing to major flood.

Accordingly flood alerts issued to the  people living on the banks of Kelani Ganga,Maduru Oya,Maha Oya,Mahawali Ganga,Kelani Ganga and Attanagalu Oya.

Meanwhile seven spill gates of Daduru Oya were opened yesterday(15) as water level reached it's spill level .Authorities have requested the people living in Puttalam,Chilaw,Mahawa,Pallama, Nikaweratiya and Bingiriya to be vigilant .

Due To The Identification Of Symptoms Very Lately Around 1000 Asthma Patients Died Annually In Sri Lanka-Dr.Keerthi Gunasekare

Due to the identification of symptoms lately around 1000 Asthma Patients in Sri Lanka have died annually according to the Consultant Chest Physician attached to Central Chest Clinic at Medical Research Institute(MRI) in Colombo Dr.Keerthi Gunasekare.

Around 200,000 Asthma Patients have been admitted to Government Hospitals for treatment annually although around 20% of the current population estimated as suffering from the disease Dr.Gunasekara has stated.

Air Pollution,Direct and Passive Smoking,Skin Diseases like Eczema , stools of Cockroaches and parts of Dead Cockroaches ,some drugs,pets,are some of the factors which cause Asthma he has stressed.

Cough,Wheeze,Difficulty in Breathing,Chest Tightness,Respiratory Distress are main symptoms of the disease and people should seek medical treatment without delay  if these symptoms appear as Asthma is not a deadly disease Dr.Gunasekare has pointed out."Asthma" can be controlled well through medicines available although it cant be curable"he has further stated while speaking at a media seminar held today(16)in Health Education Bureau-Colombo on "World Asthma Day".



Three Persons Are Reported As Missing Due To Floods

Image result for missingThree Persons are reported as missing up to now due to the floods occurred in many districts in the island since last Saturday(14) the Disaster Management Center has announced.

The three persons reported as missing from Dehiowita Area the Center has stated.

During last 24 hours highest rain fall has been reported from Katunayake Area around 250 mili meters.

Public In Flooded Areas Should Be On Alert On Water Borne Diseases -Director General Of Health Services

The Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala has today(16) advised public to be on alert on Water borne Diseases like Diarrhea ,Cholera and Hepatitis-A due to the flood situations  occurred in many districts of the country as a result of heavy showers currently prevailing in.

Public is advised to consume home made food and drinks these days without consuming  them from hotels and canteens and drink only boiled water  .When preparing green leaves should wash them thoroughly as they might contained germs Dr.Mahipala has stated.

Director General of Health Services has also stated public in flooded areas should maintain a good hygienic practices like washing hands before preparing foods ,before eating and after using toilets.

Due to the continuous heavy showers prevailing in the country since last Saturday many roads and areas have been flooded it has been reported.
