Government To Create A Safe Environment Free From Violence For Girls And Women

The Government has decided to implement  a stable legal mechanism within next six weeks in view of creating a safe environment free from violence for girls and women according to the Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe's office.

In view of making it reality a special ministerial sub committee is due to be appointed to ensure the creation of  such a legal frame work Prime Minister's Office has stated through a statement.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has personally instructed the authorities to develop the mechanism which activate the proposed action plan of creating a safe environment free from violence for girls and women within next six weeks.Prime Minister has also advised the need of having a monitoring procedure to facilitate the plan.

Former LTTE Rebel "Ram"Has Been Detained For Questioning

The Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) had yesterday (24)detained the former LTTE Rebel "Ram" at Thambuluvil Area in Ampara(Eastern Province) for questioning according to the Police.

Ram was rehabilitated after end of the armed conflict in north and east in 2009 under the government's rehabilitation programme and released four years ago.

Airport Customs Officers Have Arrested A Pakistani National With 8.7 Kilo Grammes Of Heroin At Katunayake International Air Port

Image result for arrestedSri Lanka Air Port Customs Officers have today(25) arrested a Pakistani National with 8.7 Kilo Grammes of Heroin on his arrival at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport .

The haul of Heroin in possession of the Pakistani National worth around Rs.87 Million according to the Airport Customs Officers.

The suspect has arrived in Katunayake Airport from Doha,Qatar through a Qatar Airways Flight it has been reported.

Eight Female Tea Pluckers Were Hospitalized Following A Wasp Attack In Hatton

These female workers have faced the wasp attack while they were plucking tea at the estate the sources have revealed.Their condition is not serious it has been reported.
