Four Higher Rank Police Officers Have Been Transferred With Effect From Yesterday(13)

The Department Of Police has transferred Four Higher Rank Police Officers with effect from yesterday(13) due to service requirements.

Accordingly the Superintendent of Vavuniya Police headquarters has been transferred to Alpitiya Police Headquarters,The Chief Police Superintendent  attached to Police Field Headquarters has been transferred to Vavuniya Police Headquarters ,The Police Superintendent Of Alpitiya Police Headquarters transferred to Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters and Police Superintendent of Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters transferred to Colombo Crimes Division.

New Governor Of The Northern Province Has Been Sworn In Before President Sirisena

The former Minister Reginald Cooray has been sworn in as the new Governor  of Northern Province before President Maithripala Sirisena this noon at President's House in Colombo.

The New Governor of the Northern Province is due to assume his duties from 16th of February.

The New Governor has been appointed as the previous Governor of the Northern Province H.M.G.S Palihakkara has retired from his post.

Twenty Eight Persons Including Twenty Five Female University Students Injured And Hospitalized Due To An Accident Occurred At Haputhale-Bandarawela Road

Twenty Eight Persons including Twenty Five Female Undergraduate Students attached to Sabaragamuwa University have been injured and hospitalized due to a face to face collision occurred between a Bus carrying a group of  Sabaragamuwa University Students and a  Container Truck  at Haputhale -Bandarawela(In Up Country) Road this morning.

The injured have been admitted to Bandarawela and Diyathalawa Hospitals for treatment and two of the injured  are reported as in critical condition.

According to the Police Department  more than 20 such accidents have been occurred at Haputhale -Bandarawela Road previously.

Excise Department Officials Have Seized Around 17 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis In Mannar

The Excise Department Officials in Mannar(In Northern Province) have  seized  a stock of  Kerala Cannabis weighing 17 Kilo Grammes and 640 Grammes  at a forest area in Musali,Mannar during a raid carried out early this morning. 

 The estimated value of the  seized stock of Kerala Cannabis is over Rs.17 million according to Excise Department Officials.

The seized stock of Kerala Cannabis concealed in eight bags in order to  distribute the Officials have said.The stock has  brought to Sri Lanka through the sea route from India and hidden inside the jungle it has been revealed .

Excise Department Officials in Mannar have launched an investigation to arrest the suspects who brought the seized stock of Kerala Cannabis to Sri Lanka.

 The seized Stock has been produced before Mannar Magistrate Court today(14).
