Twenty Four Male Clients Of Local Female Sex Workers Have Been Infected With HIV/AIDS Virus During Last Year(2014)-National STD/AIDS Control Campaign

Twenty Four Male Clients of the local Female Sex Workers have been infected with HIV/AIDS Virus during last year(2014) according to the National Sexually Transmitted Diseases(STD) /AIDS Control Programme.

This was the highest number of HIV/AIDS Positives reported from Sri Lanka in a single year who got infected with the HIV Virus through sexual contacts with female sex workers the Director of National Sexually Transmitted Diseases(STD)/AIDS  Control Programme Dr.Sisira Liyanage has said.

The venereal diseases including HIV/AIDS are on the increase among the age group 15-25 years due to the sexual contacts with female sex workers Dr.Liyanage has stressed.

According to the latest statistics available ,50% of the local  Female HIV/AIDS Positives and 35% of the Male HIV/AIDS Positives have been contacted the virus while in abroad for employment majority in Middle Eastern Countries Dr.Liyanage has further added.

President Of Neville Fernando Hospital In Malabe To Sue Professor Carlo Fonseka By Claiming Rs.500 Million

The President of the Neville Fernando Hospital in Malabe ,Dr.Neville Fernando has today(17) said he will sue the Professor Carlo Fonseka by claiming Rs.500 Million as damages for  accusing his hospital is responsible for the death of late Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero.

Professor Carlo Fonseka who is a well known Professor of Medicine in Sri Lanka yesterday (16) accused Neville Fernando Hospital In Malabe which the local Doctors Unions and University Students Unions described as having low facilities for medical care ,there's a suspicion the way that hospital care Late Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero.

While refusing Professor Fonseka's remarks on the Hospital Care given to late Sobitha Thero,Dr.Neville Fernando said there's no way of late thero got an infection while staying at his hospital.

After undergoing  a Bypass Surgery at a leading Private Hospital in Colombo ,Late Sobitha Thero had admitted to Neville Fenando Hospital to take rest at the invitation of Dr,Neville Fenando according to sources.However as Late thero developed some complications while staying there he was sent to the Mount Elizabeth Hospital In Singapore for further treatment and medical checkups .However Late Thero was passed away at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital while receiving treatment .

European Commission To Grant GSP+ For Sri Lanka Soon

The European Commission While praising the efforts made by present government to getting back GSP+ Facility for the local Apparel Sector has  pledged it will taking steps to grant the GSP+ for Sri Lanka Soon.

The European Commission has praised the Sri Lankan Government on it's efforts to combat against Fraud And Corruption in Sri Lanka,The steps taken to ensure Human Rights,To Ensure Legal Sovereignty,The establishment of Civil Administration in North and Eastern Province and releasing the prisoners detained under the prevention of terrorism act.

The current ban imposed for Sri Lankan Fish Exports too will be able to lifted soon the Commission has announced.

Anuradhapura Police Have Detained A 21 Year Old Youth With Heroin And Tramadol Pills In His Possession

Anuradhapura Police have detained a 21 year Old Youth with 20 Miligrammes of Heroin and 783 Pills of pain killer  Tramadol Pills  in his possession at Matale Junction in Anuradhapura(In North Central Province) this afternoon.

According to  Police the investigations have revealed that  detained youth had stolen the Tramadol Pills from a Drug Store in Matale Hospital.

Anuradhapura Police are currently conducting an investigations regarding the Suspect.
