The three high ranking Customs Officers who were arrested by the Bribery Commission Officers on 15th of October while accepting a Rs.125 million as a bribe have been further remanded by Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday(30) until 13th of November.

The imprisoned Customs Officers were produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate yesterday(30)

The money that the three high rank officers planned  to accept from a Foreign Country Representative is said to be largest ever bribe nabbed by Bribery Commission..

By Preventing An Unwanted Pregnancy Would Prevent 13% to 15% Of Maternal Death in Sri Lanka.-Family Planning Association.

By Preventing an unwanted pregnancies amongst Sri Lankan Women it would prevent 13%-15% Maternal Deaths in the country easily according to Sri Lanka Family Planning Association(FPA).


Unwanted Pregnancies,Unsafe Abortions and Risk Pregnancies are identified  as main risk factors that causing the maternal morbidity and mortality in Sri Lanka the Association has said.

According to FPA it is 60 times less costly to provide a family planning method to prevent an unwanted pregnancy compared to managing complications of an unsafe abortion.

Also for every Rs.100 spent on family planning method  the government saves as much as Rs.2000 in  reduced expenditure on health,education and social service FPA has stated.

Former President Rajapakshe Was Summoned Again By Special Presidential Commission Today(30)

Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe has today(30) again arrived at Special Presidential Commission Of Inquiry To Investigate And Inquire Serious Acts Of Fraud,Corruption And Abuse Of Power,State Resources And Privileges(PRECIFAC) to give evidence regarding the  allegation leveled against him on not paying Billions Of Rupees to State Owned Media Company ITN for telecasting his election campaign advertisements During Presidential Election.

The former president Rajapakshe has reported as given several statements to the Commission regarding the allegation.

Thirty Nine HNDA Students Arrested Yesterday(29) Have Been Released On Personal Bails

The 39 HNDA Students who were arrested yesterday(29) during the protest campaign held at Ward Place have been released on bail by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya today(30).

Colombo Chief Magistrate has instructed to release the students on personal bails of  Rs.10,000 each after they have been produced before Chief Magistrate.

Chief Magistrate has also instructed the Police to arrest and produce the remaining persons who were organized the protest campaign held yesterday.The case was postponed until 08th of January .
