President Sirisene Called An International Assistance To Combat The Mysterious Kidney Disease In Dry Zone

President Maithripala Sirisene has  today called  an International Assistance to combat the Mysterious Kidney Disease that spreading among st Farmers mainly in North Central Province.

During a meeting held today at President's House in Colombo with  Foreign Ambassadors ,President has stressed that around 40,000 farmers in the dry zone have been infected with this kidney disease already and around 1000 patients are dying annually due to the disease.

After a number of research  done regarding the mysterious kidney disease the medical experts have identified that there's a link between the drinking water use in dry zone and the kidney disease President has revealed,

After the President's briefing on the Kidney Disease all the  Foreign Ambassadors that present at the meeting have pledged to grant any assistance from their countries to prevent spreading of the Kidney Disease in dry zone.

According to the President's Media Unit the representative of World Health Organization(WHO) who was at the meeting has pledged that the WHO will support to carry out further research on the Kidney Disease and the representative participated behalf of European Union has assured that the Union will consider to increase the aid currently given for the Drinking Water Projects in Sri Lanka.

The Australian Ambassador has pledged that her country will funded to inaugurate a  drinking water project that can supply water for around 100,000 residents in Northern Province.The Japanese Ambassador has promised the president that the Japanese Government will grant aid for thousands of  Patients who are suffering from Kidney Disease in Anuradhapura District.

A Protest Of University Students In Front Of University Grants Commission Has Caused Heavy Traffic In Colombo

Heavy Traffic Prevailed in Colombo Town Hall to Ward Place this evening due to a protest conducted by  University Students in front of the University Grants Commission(UGC) Building by demanding stop giving legal status to Malabe Private Medical College.

Over 1000 University Students marched towards the University Grants Commission Building this evening and held a protest there .A large number of Police Officers have seen deployed near UGC Building to prevent any clash and Police use barricades to avoid  University Students entering to UGC Premises.

Nurses-PSM'S And Para Medics In Colombo District Government Hospitals To Launch A Two Day Strike From Tomorrow(29)

The Nursing Officers ,Professions Supplementary To Medicine(PSM'S) and Para Medical Officers attach to all Government Hospitals and Health Institutions in Colombo District are due to launch a two day strike on tomorrow (29th) and Thursday(30) by demanding solutions for five of their service demands according to the Joint Confederation Of Nurses-PSM'S And Para Medical Officers .

Under this two day strike all Nurses,PSM'S And Para Medical Officers attach to Colombo National Hospital are due to launch the strike from 8 a.m tomorrow(29th) and the said professions attach to all other Colombo District Hospitals and Health Institutions will join the strike on Thursday(30) the Joint Confederation has announced.

Election Manifesto Of UPFA Was Presented To The President Sirisene

The election manifesto of  United Peoples Freedom Alliance(UPFA) for the forthcoming Parliamentary Election was presented to the UPFA Chairman ,President Maithripala Sirisene this morning by a group of UPFA Party leaders.

The UPFA election manifesto was presented to the President by General Secretary Of UPFA Susil Premajayantha,General Secretary Of Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, and Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) Leader Dinesh Gunawardene,at the President's Official Residence in Colombo.

The official launching of the UPFA Manifesto was held at the Henry Pedris Grounds in Colombo this morning with  participation of  UPFA Candidates for the forthcoming election including former president Mahinda Rajapakshe.

President Sirisene Has Cancelled The SLFP Memberships Of Five Members Who Crossed Over To The Opposition

The President Maithripala Sirisene has ordered to cancel the Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) memberships of five members who crossed over to United National Front For Good Governance recently to contest in the forthcoming election according to President's Media Unit.

The SLFP membership of five members namely Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne,M.K.D.S Gunawardene,S.B Nawinne,Ports Minister Arjuna Ranathunge and Hirunika Premachandre were canceled for violating the terms of SLFP Constitution by crossing over to another party to contest in the election while been SLFP Members the Media Unit has stressed.

All these members left SLFP before the last presidential election along with current President Maithripala Sirisene and supported President Sirisene who contested as the common candidate of the opposition to win the election.Soon after obtained the Party Chairmanship President Sirisene offered the  SLFP membership to the said members whose party memberships have been cancelled by then President and SLFP Chairman Mahinda Rajapakshe.
