GMOA Executive Committee To Meet Again Tomorrow(06) To Decide Future Course Of Action Against The Assaulting Dr.Nonis

The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) is to summon a special Executive Committee meeting at 12 noon tomorrow(06) to decide their future course of action against the assaulting of one of the senior members of Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) it's registrar Dr.N.J Nonis .

The Assistant Secretary of the GMOA Dr.Upul Gunesekera has said today that the Executive Committee which met today has decided to launch an island wide strike without a prior notice if any of it's members are subjected to harassment or assault like this."We concerned this assault against Dr.Nonis as an assault against the standard  Medical Care in the country and an assault against us as well " he stressed.

Addressing a Press Briefing at the GMOA Headquarters in Colombo this noon Dr.Gunesekera has said that the Government Specialist Doctors Union ,The Government Dental Surgeons Association and the University Lecturers extended their support towards the GMOA in todays trade union action in Government Hospitals as well as in future course of action taken against the assaulting of Dr.Nonis.

As the suspect who assaulted Dr.Nonis yesterday was arrested by the Police today ,Dr.Gunesekera stressed that GMOA expecting  that the suspect will be produced before the court soon and punished according to the law  .

Meanwhile the assaulted Dr.Nonis who is a Specialist as well was admitted to the Neuro Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo National Hospital this morning for an investigations but he got discharged and reported to work at the Sri Lanka Medical Council as the Council summoned a special meeting  today.

EXCLUSIVE- Government Hospital Doctors To Launch An Island Wide 4 Hour Token Strike Tomorrow

The Executive Committee of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) which was summoned an emergency meeting two hours ago has decided to launch a 4 hour Island Wide Token Strike of Government Hospital Doctors   between 8 A.M to 12 Noon tomorrow (05) to protest against the assaulting of   secretary to the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) Dr,N.J Nonis this afternoon.

A spokesman of the GMOA has said that  the Doctors attached to Lady Ridgway Children's Hospital,Maharagama Cancer Hospital,Castle Street Maternity and De Soyza Maternity Hospitals in Colombo will not participate this Island Wide Strike due to humanitarian reasons.

Due to this Strike OPD Clinics of the Government Hospitals and routine surgeries and treatment will become stand still tomorrow  and   Emergency Services of  rest of the Hospitals will be maintained as usual during the strike  period  the spokesman has  stressed.

205 Rice Pack Manufacturers Were Rejected To Grant Registration Due To Poor Hygienic Level

The Public Health Department of  Colombo Urban Council has rejected to grant registration  to 205 Rice Pack Manufacturers in Colombo City due to the unhygienic way of preparing their rice packs according to the Colombo Chief MOH Dr.Preadeep Kariyawasam.As the deadline given for registering of Rice Pack Manufactures in Colombo already has passed the Public Health Department only able to registered 110 Rice Manufacturers who met the standards required for Rice Packing he said.

The given deadline for applying for registering the Rice Packs is 30th of September this year and the Department has received 315 applications he stressed.Those who have received the registration should carry the Registration Seal provided for them with the Name,Address of the manufacturer ,The Date and Time of packing and the registration number Dr.Kariyawasam has stressed."The Rice Pack Manufacturers are advised to sell the Rice Packs only 4 hours since the packing time and those who do not meet  these rules will face legal or other stern action he further added.

The Officials of the Central Food Control Unit belongs to the Colombo Public Health Department began raids today targeting those who are violated Rice Packing laws.

SrI Lanka Medical Council Secreatry Was Assaulted By An Unknown Gang

By adding fuel to the present crisis on harassment against Medical Officers the secretary of the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) Dr.N.J Nonis was assaulted by two unknown persons this eve near his residence at Rawatawatte,Moratuwa in the Colombo Suburbs according to the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA).

The Assistant Secretary of  GMOA Dr.Upul Gunasekera has said today that an emergency meeting of the Executive Committee will be summoned at GMOA Headquarters in Colombo tomorrow (05)at 10 a.m to discuss the future action to be taken regarding the assault of  SLMC Secretary.

GMOA Has Suspended The Island Wide Strike Action Scheduled To Be Held Tomorrow

The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has  today decided(03) to suspend their Island Wide Doctors Strike scheduled to be held tomorrow (04) following the handover of  missing personal file belongs to  GMOA president Dr.Anurudda Padeniya .

Dr.Upul Gunesekera the Assistant Secretary of  GMOA has said " The Authorities were handed over the missing personal file belongs to Dr.Padeniya  back to his work place in the  Lady Ridgway Hospital today,So we have decided to suspend our trade union action "addressing a press briefing held at GMOA Headquarters in Colombo today he said that the Special Executive Committee meeting held today has decided to suspend the trade union action and to launch a trade union without a prior notice in future  if any unauthorized institution has try to removed personal files of medical officers again.

The reason the Bribery and Corruption Committee has taken Dr,Padeniya's Personal File is to investigate on his duty  leave matter and that issue should be addressed by the Ministry of Health it self and not by the Bribery Commission Dr.Gunesekara has stressed.

An Indian Company Found A Natural Gas Field From Northern Sri Lanka

President Mahinda Rajapaksha has today(02) officially announced that a Natural Gas field has found from Mannar Basin in  Northern Sri Lanka for the first time .

Addressing a gathering at the Presidential Palace in Kandy today the President  has said that an Indian Company Cairn which exploring Gas and Oil in Mannar Basin has informed him on this .Meanwhile The Cairn India Ltd, a subsidiary of Cairn Energy Plc, today (Oct 2) has confirmed that  it has discovered a natural gas field in Sri Lanka’s offshore Mannar Basin.

Government Doctors Union To Held An Emergency Executive Committee Meeting Tomorrow To Decide On Trade Union Action

The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has arranged a special executive committee meeting tomorrow at 12 noon to decide the way of the  scheduled Island Wide Doctors strike action of Tuesday is conducting according to the assistant secretary of GMOA Dr.Sankalpa Marasinha.Whether the Strike Action is a Token one else a Continuous one will be decide in today's meeting he stressed.

He also stressed that the scheduled strike on Tuesday demanding the returning of  removed Personal File belongs to the GMOA President Dr.Anurudda Padeniya will go ahead as planned as the authorities still failed to meet their demand.

The GMOA is accusing that the Personal File belongs to Dr.Padeniya has been removed from his work place by the officials of Bribery and Corruption Commission without a prior notice.Meanwhile the Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has today said that the Personal File of Dr,Padeniya is not missing as stated by GMOA and it's there at his work place.

However the GMOA Officials said that the Personal File is missing from the Lady Ridgway Children's Hospital in Colombo where Dr.Padeniya is attached .

A Sudden Fire Erupted In A Tyre Shop At Armour Street

A sudden fire has broken out at a tyre shop near Armour street in Grandpass this evening (29) causing severe traffic congestion in the area....
