Sri Lankan Cricket Interim Board To Meet Tomorrow To Discuss On Match Fixing Allegations

The Sri Lankan Cricket Interim Board to meet tomorrow to  discuss on the allegations made by former Sri Lankan Cricket Captain Hashan Thilakaratne over match fixing by the  former Cricketers.Hashan had stated for a foreign Media Ch annal last Friday that the Match Fixing is nowadays spreading like a Cancer and it's not a new thing  to Sri Lankan Cricket.

Soon after the former Sri Lankan Cricket Captain made these remarks it has been reported that a One of the former Indian Cricketer as well as the Sri Lankan Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage refused it as  a rubbish statement.

However Hashan Thilakaratne in his interview with the Foreign Channal stated that he will revealed some  names who were involved in Match Fixing in near future.Meanwhile the former Pakistani Wicket Keeper Rashid Latiff today backed the  Match Fixing allegations made by Thilakaratne.

Earlier the Ministry Of Labor has been requested that Monday to be declared as a Holiday for Government and Private Sectors.It has been learn t that the  Sri Lanka is having a large number of Public and Bank Holidays per year .

World Health Organization Awarded An International Certificatte For Sri Lanka On Eradication Of Filaria

The World Health Organization(WHO) has today awarded an International Progress Certificate to Sri Lanka for becoming the First Country in South Asia to eradicate the Disease Filaria .

The Certificate was awarded after a survey conducted by a group of World Health Organization experts in cities Dehiwala,Wattala and Ja Ela which are widely  known as the filaria ring and found that there are no trace of filaria parasite spreading the disease in these cities  and not even a single victim suffering from the disease.


According to the survey results the WHO satisfied the progress made by Sri Lanka on eradicating the Filaria from the country and awarded the Certificate to Sri Lanka the Ministry Of Health has announced.The Deputy Director General Dr.Sunil Settinayaka was accepted the progress certificate on behalf of the Ministry.

Doctors Are Forcing Government Hospital Patients To Buy Some Essential Drugs From Pharmecies?


It has been reported that these days a large number of Government Hospital Patients are visiting Government and Private Pharmecies daily with the prescriptions of Government Hospital Doctors to buy certain Essential Drugs which are not available in Some Hospitals.

Although Government Doctors are prescribing their patients to buy  certain varieties of Drugs from the private sector these Drugs are not out of stock at the hospitals but the supply of these drugs are limited according to the Hospital Pharmecies." Due to the short supply of these drugs doctors may be prescribing the patients to buy these from the private sector" a Government Pharmecist has said.

However the Government and Private Pharmacies too not able to cater the needs of these patients as they too not having some of these essential drugs with them as well as over 200 other drug items according to the Pharmacy Sources.

However the Medical Supplies Division ( MSD) has said that there is no drug shortage in the Government Hospitals as the MSD has supplied all drugs not largely but  with a limit.

Magistrate Ordered Authorities To Temporarily Ban A Lankan News Web Site

Pugoda Magistrate has today (28th) ordered the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission to temporarily ban the "Lanka E News News web site published in Sri Lanka till the legal proceedings of the  Journalist attached to the perticular web site regarding contempt of court is over.

The accused Journalist Shantha Wijesuriya was ordered to be remanded till 12th of May by the pugoda magistrate during today's court proceedings.The said Journalist was arrested by the Kirindiwela Police over publishing a false article on 25th of April 2011 by allegedly commiting contempt of court.

Meanwhile it has been reported that the Lanka E News administrators are scheduled  to appeal from the Court Of Appeal against the court decision on temporarily ban of their web site.

Parliament Postponed Debate On Private Sector Pension Scheme


The Parliamentary Sessions  held today(27th) had only lasted one hour as there is a court case regarding  the  subject scheduled to be discussed  in today's  session, the controversial "private sector pensions scheme".As there is a court case pending on the subject,the Parliamentary Session was postponed till the 03rd of May.

The Debate on the the private sector pension scheme will be held when the Parliament meets on 03rd of May.
