Ridgway Childrens Hospital Tightened Their Security Following the Assaulting Of A Doctor

Sri Lanka's largest Children's Hospital the lady ridgway hospital authorities tightened the security of in and outside of the hospital since this morning following the assault of a doctor by a father of a deceased child.According to a hospital spokesman seven police officers are guarding the in and out doors of the hospital 24 hours a day and authorities also decided to allow only a child's parents can accompany the child both to the out door patients department and to the wards by restricting other relatives of a child patient entering the premises.

Meanwhile the lady doctor who was assaulted yesterday by a father of a diceased child is still hospitalized and according to the Colombo National Hospital sources her condition is stable and she is having some minor injuries.The judicial medical officer(JMO) also examined her today.

Cabinet Decided To Expand The Parliamentary Complex

The Cabinet today decided to expand the Parliamentary Complex in Colombo suburbs  with constructing another building adjoining the land by spending Rs.750 Million Government sources has reported.

OPD Doctors Of The Colombo Childrens Hospital Launched A 4 Hour Strike Against Assaulting A Doctor

All the doctors attached to the Out Door Patients Department(OPD) of the Sri Lanka's largest Children's Hospital the Lady Ridgway Childrens Hospital in Colombo today launched a 4 hour strike in protest against the pysical assault of a  Specialist Female Doctor of the hospital by a Father of a small child victim. The Female Doctor was assaulted by an angry father of a small child after the child died after admitted to the hospital last night.

Doctors launched the strike between 8 A.M to 12 Noon by paralysing the clinics of the OPD and put thousands of chidren who brought to the hospital for treatment in difficult position.

The father of the deceased child who is a resident in Colombo suburbs assaulted and trying attacked the female doctor with a knife which was prevented by the nurses of the ward this morning.The doctor was admitted to the Accident Service of the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.The father of the child was arrested by the Borella Police and due to produced before the courts today.

Sri Lanka won the first   One Day International cricket match played against Australia today in Melbourne,Australia by one wicket.In reply to to the Australian total of 239/8 wickets Sri Lankan Team cruised to win the match in the 44th over by scoring 243/9 wickets.

Opening pace bowler lasith malinga also scored his maiden half century during todays match.

Three Member Judge Panel Postponed Hearing Of General Fonseka's Petition to 10th Of November

The three member judge panel appointed to hear the petition filed by former army commander general sarath fonseka requesting to issue an interim order on allowing him to attend the parliamentary proceedings has decided today to consider the petition in 10th of november.

The court of appeal appointed the three member judge panel yesterday to hear general fonseka's petition and decided to begin the case by  today.

Government Hospital Nurses To Launch An Islandwide Token Strike In 10th Of November

All nurses attached to Government Hospitals will launched an islandwide one day token strike in 10th of November(Wednesday)demanding solutions for five of their service demands according to the Government Health Nursing Officers Union(GHNO).

The secretary of the Nursing Officers Union Jayantha Wimalasiri has said that all nursing staff will participate this trade union action demanding to with hold the decision taken to reduce the  Nursing Degree period to 3 years from 4 yaers,allow nurses to participate maternity tarining in Kurunagala Hospital of the North Western Province,implementing the proposals made by the union for the Nursing Constitution,declare a 5 day working weak for nurses and giving nurses a 180/1 extra allowance per hour's work.

Three Member Judge Panal Appointed To Hear General Fonseka's Petition

Court of Appeal today appointed a three member judge panel to examine the petition filed by the imprisoned former Army Commander and MP General Sarath Fonseka requesting to issue an order allowing him to particpate Parliamentary proceedings.The Court of Appeal yesterday postponed the appoionting of the judge panel to today.

The newly appointed judge panal is due to hear the petition tomorrow.The secretary of the Parliamnet informed the elections commissioner recently that imprisoned General Fonseka's Parliamentary Seat is vaccated and take action to appoint a replacement for the vaccant seat.Following this General Fonseka filed a petition in the Court Of Appeal challenging the decision of the secretary of the parliament.
