Floods Death Toll Risen To 20 As Heavy Showers Continue

The death toll due to floods risen to 20 today as most of the victims were reported from the Gampaha District.Still the Roads and Houses are under water in the district as well as  most parts of the island as  Heavy showers continues since last night.

Several Displaced centres are set up for the Displaced people almost every flood affected area and government distributed the food and medicine to the needy.

Meanwhile Government has decided to remove all the unauthorized buildings as it caused the floods in most parts of the western province including the capital colombo

General Sarath Fonseka stressed That Forces Not Involved In War Crimes

"Sri Lankan Forces have never committed war crimes during their battle against the LTTE "Former Army Commander Retired general Sarath Fonseka who is imprisoned stated today in a response to a question regarding the Channel-4 allegations.Channel-4 of United Kingdom earlier accused that the Sri Lankan Forces were involved in war crimes during the battle.

Four people were dead and twenty eight got injured after a lorry skids off the road at Haguranketha in Nuwara Eliya this evening.

Sri Lankan a Air Lines Appealed People To Arrive Four Hours Prior To Flights Departure


Sri Lankan Air Line authorities today appealed to their passengers to report to the Bandaranaike International Air Port in Colombo four hours prior to the departure of their flights.This deceison was taken due to the traffic congestion caused by the floods. 

Chemical Container In The Colombo Harbour Caught Fire


A Chemical container stored in the colombo harbour has caught fire this evening and the fire brigade was rudhed to the scene and prevented the spreading of fire further.

The cause of the fire is not yet revealed.

Heavy Showers Affected Power Supply


Kelanithissa Power Plant authorities has announced this noon that the power supply to the areas in Kelaniya and Northern Colombo will curtailed if the heavy rain prevails  continues in their stations.Already two of their power sub statons were under water according to the officials.

As a result the power supply to the areas of colombo-13,colombo 14 and 15 are already curtailed.
