EU Commission To Decide GSP Plus On Sri Lanka i

The Commission  on The European Union is to meet on 15th of October to discuss on the GSP Plus Concession for  Sri Lanka.The final Decision on granting of GSP Plus to Sri Lanka is to be taken at the end of the year according to the EU Sources.

Health Secretary To Appoint An Inquiry Committee To Probe 38 Blood Bank Officials

The Health Ministry Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage is due to appoint a Special Inquiry Committee to probe a Formal Disciplinary Inquiry against the 38 defendants of the Issuing Of Expired Blood Kits Case.These Defendants were already received Charge Sheets to explain there positions regarding the Charges leveled against them within two weak's  time.

After they make out  there explanations  the Committee will begin the Inquiry Health Ministry Sources said today.The defendants who were issued Charge Sheets included  the former Director of the National Blood Centre in Colombo Dr.Mangalika Bindusara.Due to the Public Services Commission(PSC) delays the issuing of Charge Sheets to the above defendants the Powers vested to the PSC were transfer to the Health Secretary through  a Special Cabinet Order last weak..

Ten Suspects Of The IT Student Assault Case Were Further Remanded

The Colombo Magistrate Court today refused Bail and further remanded the 10 Suspects including the Son and Wife of the Former SSP Vaas Gunawardena who are taken into Custody regarding the assault over IT Student Nipuna Ramanayaka..The Court also instructed the Police to get an Information from another Police on one other  Suspect involved in the Incident.

Health Minister Submitted The Cuban Dengue Report For Cabinet Approval


Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva submitted the Cuban Epidemiologists Report on Using the Cuban Methodology into the Sri Lankan Dengue Control Programme to the Cabinet on last Wednesday.This Report was later Prepared again to suit Sri Lankan standard and with this Report the Estimated Cost Report to implement the above Report too was submitted to the Cabinet Approval.
A panel of Sri Lankan Professors and Experts made changes in the original Report which was submitted by the two visiting Cuban Epidemiologists.

Kuwaiti Government To Deport 17,000 Illegal Immigrants Including Sri Lankans


The Interior Ministry of Kuwait is planning to Deport 17,000 Illegal Immigrants who are under Police Custody including 1000 Sri Lankans at the end of the year "The Kuwait Times" Paper reported today.This is the largest batch of Immigrants to be Deported from the Country since getting Independence after the Iraqi Invasion in 1991.

Kuwaiti Interior Ministry already applied for getting Air Tickets for these Illegal Immigrants who are belongs to 22 Nations through the Central Tender Board.In 2006 Kuwaiti Government Deported 16,000 Immigrants from the Country.

Meanwhile after hearing on the News Report on Deporting of Sri Lankan Immigrants The Sri Lankan Ambassador to Kuwait said that still no Definite decision made in this regard.

Two IDP'S Were Shot By The Army While Trying To Escape


Two IDP'S were injured and 19 got arrested during a clash with the Sri Lankan Army when Two IDP'S tried to flee from the Manick Farm IDP Camp yesterday.The two who were shot sustained Injuries were admitted to the Cheddikulam Hospital in the Northern Sri Lanka.

According to the Army Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara The two Inmates who were to escape from the IDP Camp tried to throw a Grenade and hurl Stones at the Army Personal.As a result Army shot at them he stressed.Police are questioning the 19 people who have been taken into custody during the clash.

Health Secretary Issued Charge Sheets For 38 Blood Bank Workers


Health Ministry Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage issued Charge Sheets under a Special Cabinet Order for 38 People who are found guilty of issuing Expired Blood Kits to the Government Hospitals .Cabinet was instructed the Health Secretary last weak to issue these Charge Sheets as the Public Services Commission the Body which issues Charge Sheets for Public Servants are not doing their Job properly.

The Report of the Preliminary Inquiry held regarding the Blood Kits Case was sent to the PSC on 01st of September last year but the Commission is still not able to issue Charge Sheets for the accused.Therefor the Health Secretary is given wide Powers to act on the Issue.

After the issuing of Charge Sheets the Health Secretary is due to appoint a Special Committee in two weak time to probe a Formal Disciplinary Inquiry on the Accused Persons according to the Health Ministry Sources.

The former Director of the National Blood Center in Colombo Dr.Mangalika Bindusara and Three Doctors are among the 38 accused over the Expired Blood Kits case.
