Sri Lanka To Re Settled 150,000 IDP'S In Mid October

Sri Lankan Government is decided to Re Settle 150,000 IDP's lives in Camps of the Northern Sri Lanka in there Native Areas by Mid October this year Ministry Of Health has announced today.

Since the Re Settlement of the IDP'S begun this will be the largest number of IDP'S re settle in one occasion according to the Ministry.Earler around 69,000 IDP'S resettled in their native places.

At present there are around 211,000 IDP'S remained in the Camps .Meanwhile the Ministry Of Health said around Rs 550 Million Rupees worth of Medicines and equipment were provided to the Health Care Facilities of IDP'S by the Ministry Up to now.

International Gas Company Threatened Consumer Affairs Minister ?

Minister Of Consumer Affairs Bandula Gunawardana today said in Parliament that a Certain Foreign Gas Company operated in Sri Lanka threatened to take him before the International Court due to his refusal of the Price Hike of the Gass in the Local Market as proposed by that Company.

Health Ministry To Get Helicopters For Air Spraying Bacteria To Dengue Breeding Sites

Health Ministry decided to negotiate the Sri Lankan Air Force Next weak over getting Helicopters to Spray Cuban Made BTI Bacteria from AIR to the Six identified Dengue Risk Areas in Sri Lanka.Ministry will try to get the Helicopters for cheaper rate and will send the Air Ma to Cuba for training on the Spraying of the Bacteria if needed Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said today.

The Report of the Cuban Epidemiologists which provided the Recommendations on how to use the Cuban Method in Sri Lanka to combat the Dengue Menace already presented to the Panal of Sri Lankan Experts and will implement the Report according to the suggestions of the Panel Minister stressed.Minister made these remarks during his Address at a Media Seminar held today at the Health Education Bureau in Colombo on Dengue Control.

Addressing the Press Briefing the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Mr.Alok Prasad said that the Indian Field Hospital provided Medical Assistance to over 50,000 IDP's during their presence here and donated Rs.125 Million worth Medicine and Equipment to Sri Lankan Health Ministry since this January.Health Minister Distributed the Appreciation Certifficates to the outgoing Indian Medical Team.

Sri Lanka To Expel The UNICEF Spokesman

Sri Lankan Government has decided to revoke the Work Visa of the Spokesman for UNICEF in Sri Lanka Mr.James Elder due to his involvement in spreading the LTTE Propaganda.According to the Foreign Secretary Dr.Palitha Kohona Mr.Elder is involved in spreading the Rebel's Propaganda which the UNICEF has been denied.

Meanwhile United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon yesterday strongly regrets the Sri Lankan Government's decision to Expel the UNICEF Spokesman from Sri Lanka saying he will raise the Issue with the President Mahinda Rajapaksha at his earliest Opportunity.

A Fire Broke Out At The Leprosey Hospital

A Major Fire Breakout inside of the Leprosy Hospital Building at the Manathivue Island in the Batticloe Area this Morning causing Authorities to remove the Patients and the Staff from the Building.There are only Two Leprosy Patients were at the Hospital when the fire was broke out and all of them were evacuated immediately to another building Health Ministry says.

According to the Reports around 13 People were air lifted and the others were evacuated from Boats.
Air Force Fire Fighters rushed in to the scene and preventing the spread of Fire further.The cause of the Fire is still not known.

Plantation Workers Strike On Pay Hike Continues

The Strike Action by the Plantation Workers demanding a Daily Pay of Rs.500 continues as the Talks between the Trade Unions and the Estate Owners ended without a positive outcome.

Meanwhile the Ceylon Workers Congress(CWC) which representing the large number of Plantation Workers in the Estates saying that the wages of the Workers should be increased at least to Rs.10,000 .Addressing a Press Briefing in Colombo the Leader of the CWC Arumugam Thondaman says that a Minor Staff Worker of the Government earned a Monthly Salary of Rs.13,500 and therefor the Plantation Worker should be given a Minimum Monthly Salary of Rs.10,000 .

The Estate Owners warns if this Strike Continues the Tea Industry which is one of the top Export Earners in the Island will suffer heavily.Already the Work of the Tea Plantations became slow after the workers turned out low due to the Trade Union Action.
