Public Viewing Gallery Of the Colombo Air Port To Be Re Open

The Public Viewing Gallery of the Katunayaka Bandaranaika International Air Port in Colombo which was closed due to security reasons few years ago to be open from 01st of August according to the Head of the Air Port Management Mr.H.S Hettiarachchi.

President Made New Military Appointments

President Mahinda Rajapaksha today appointed Army Commander Lt.General Sarath Fonseka who guided the Military Victory over LTTE as the New Chief Of Defense Staff,and other Military Chiefs involved in Battle field Major General Jagath Jayasooriya as the New Army Commander,Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda as an National Security Advisor to the President and Admiral Thisera Samarasinha as the New Navy Commander.

The Appointment of New Chief Of Defense Staff was made under the powers vested to the President under the Chief Of Defense Staff Act No.35 of 2009.All these Appointments will come to effect from 15th of July.All the New Appointees were handover their Appointments today at the President'S House in Colombo.

Meanwhile the Present Chief of Staff of the Sri Lankan Army and Competent Authority for the Internaly Displaced Persons Major General G.A Chandrasiri appointed as the New Governor of the North Central Province and the Present Governor Mr.Dixon Dala is appointed as the Sri Lankan High Commissioner In Maldives with effect from today.

Sri Lankan Woman Boxer Nilmini Jayasinha won the Gold Medal in under 51 KG Catagory of the World W omen's Invitational Boxing Championships workout in Russia yesterday.In final she beets her Canadian counterpart.

Sri Lankan Swine Flu Patients Tally Increased To Thirty

Sri Lankan Swine Flu Patients tally increased to 30 as another Three Swine Flu patients who were returned from Australia were identified today.With these three patients Nine Swine Flu Patients are currently getting treatment at the Angoda Fever Hospital.

Due to the increasing number of Swine Flu deaths reported from Australia special attention is paying towards the people who are returning from there to the Island Director of the Angoda Fever Hospital Dr.Anura Senanayaka said.

UN To Stood Their Statements On Casualties During Ealam War

The United Nations Office in Colombo says they will stood their statements on Civilian casualties occurred during war against LTTE despite the Five Tamil Doctors who were charged on spreading false Information on casualties during war were said that they were doing that due to the amount of pressure of LTTE.

These Five Doctors who worked on Hospitals located in No War Zone during the Last stages of war are now under Police Arrest.During a Press Briefing held last Wednesday they stressed that LTTE forced them to exaggerating the number of Civilian Casualties and said the number of casualties reported were around 300 and not in thousands as they earlier predicted.

Five Tamil Docs Charged For Spreading False Information On War Declared They Were Under LTTE Preasure

Five Tamil Doctors who were charged by the Sri Lankan Government with providing false information to the International and Local Media on Civilian Casualties during the Fighting against LTTE says they done so due to the Pressure of the LTTE.
Addressing a Press Briefing in Colombo yesterday the five doctors,Satyamoorthy,Varatharaja,Illanchelliyan,,Sivapalan and shanmugaraja told that the civilian casualties during the Confrontation between Government Forces and LTTE in the last stage stands at around 300 and not in thousands as foreign media reported.Out of these Doctors Sivapalan and Shanmugaja are LTTE Medical Corps.

These Five Doctors were captured by the Sri Lankan Army in last may while they were trying to crossing over to the Government held Area from the then No War Zone soon after the War against LTTE Finishes.Since then they are under Police Arrest and the CID questioning them on their links with the LTTE.

Large Stock Of Expired Pethidine Injection Vials Still In The MSD Stores

Around 360,000 vials of expired Pethidine Injections are still in the Stores of Medical Supplies Division without destroying it Health Ministry Sources said.These Injection Vials were expired on January 31 this year and the whole stock is removed from the Government Hospitals in early February.

Thereafter the Health Ministry Officials said that the stock will be destroyed but still they didn't take any steps to do that according to the Officials.When contacted the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Ajith Mendis said that these Vials of Pethidine are not destroyed due to the ongoing Investigation by the Auditor General in this regard.

However Doctors said the Auditor General's inquiry on this matter should be over now as it started 3 months back.Pethidine is known as a powerful Pain killer prescribed for serious wounds and for the Pregnant Mothers.It is widely use Pain Killer in Sri Lanka.
