Maharagama Cancer Hospital Nursing Staff Stop Performing Chemo Therapy For Cancer Patients

Nursing Staff of the Only Cancer Hospital of Sri Lanka in Maharagama stop performing Chemo Therapy for the Cancer Patients since yesterday as a protest against undermining their Professional Demands causing the Lives of the Patients in Danger.

According to Cancer Hospital Sources more than 500 Indoor and Outdoor Cancer Patients who are receiving Chemo Therapy often undergoing severe hardship due to this trade union action.

Cancer Hospital Nursing Staff who are in charge of performing Chemo Therapy for the Cancer Patients demanding a Safe Equipment for the Nursing Staff for their own safety,An Internationally Recognized Nursing Training Programme on Chemo Therapy and Ten Thousend Rupee Risk Allowance.Cancer Nursing Staff stop performing Chemo Therapy two occasions in last year also.

First Swine Flu Case Detected In Sri Lanka

The first Swine Flu(H1N1) case of Sri Lanka was reported today as an Eight Year old Sri Lankan boy based in Australia detected as suffering from the Flu on his arrival at the Katunayaka International Air Port in Colombo this evening.The Boy who was accompanied by his Parents arrived Sri Lanka for a vacation on a Singapore via Flight Health Ministry said.

Swine Flu affected Boy was transferred Immediately to the Fever Hospital in Angoda-Colombo for further treatment and his parents too were undergoing tests to find out whether they too are suffering from the Swine Flu.

At a special Press Briefing held today at the Health Ministry Auditorium Ministry officials appealed to the People aware on the Swine Flu as it spreads quickly among the Community.

Two Faculties of the University Of Sabaragamuwa of the Central Hills of Sri Lanka.The Faculty of Management and Applied Sciences were closed today Indefinitely following a Clash between Two Student Groups of the University.

700 People Hospitalized For Food Poisoning.

Around 700 People of the Kotmale District including Children were Hospitalized this morning due to a Food Poisoning.

Army Recovered Another LTTE Submarine

Another Submarine Belongs to the LTTE was recovered by the Sri Lankan Army Task Force 8 this Morning from the former Rebel held Territory in Northern Sri Lanka.This Submarine was recovered from Vellamullivaikal Area according to the Security Sources.

Meanwhile The Police recovered another large haul of Ammunition from the Eastern District Of Trincomalee according to the Sources.

President Mahinda Rajapaksha And A Govt.Delegation Arrived Myanmar For An Official Visit

President Mahinda Rajapaksha accompanied by his wife,Two of his Children and several Cabinet Ministers arrived Myanmar today for a Three Day Official Visit.This is the first time President has visited another Country since defeating LTTE Rebels Militarily.

President and his Company were received at the Nyi Pyi Taw Air Port by the Chairman of State Peace and Development Council of the State Of Myanmar Senior General Than Shwe.

During the Talks with Myanmar Leaders Sri Lankan President thanked them for the Support given during the Battle against LTTE Rebels.

Health Ministry Probe On Missing Personal Files Of Docs

The Special Investigations Unit of the Ministry Of Health Is probing on the Missing of 18 Personal Files belongs to the Sri Lankan Doctors stored in the Ministry.These Files which majority of them belongs to the Doctors who are not returned to the Country after finishing their Specialists Training in Abroad were Vanished from the Ministry Unit since last Wednesday.

As these Files are Public Property Ministry already lodged a Complaint to the Maradana Police on these Missing Files containing Personal Data of the Doctors.

The Ministry's Investigation Unit already taken Statements from the Subject Officers who are in Charge of these Files regarding this incident.
