Prof.Senaka Bibile Organization Complained That Thirty Six Drugs Were Removed From The Hospitals Due To Quality Failure


Professor Senaka Bibile Commemorative Organization Said yesterday(19) that Thirty Six Drug Items Including the Paracetamole and Doxycycline which is Prescribed for Leptospirosis were Removed from the Government Hospitals Recently by the Medical Supples Division(MSD)due to the Quality Failure.Most of these Drugs were Issued to the Patients and were Expired when the MSD Informed the Hospital Authorities to Remove them Dr.Jayatha Bandara The Secretary of the Organization Said.Addressing a press Briefing in Colombo He Stressed that Large Number of Complaints were Received about the Patients who are Developed Side Effects after getting these Drugs.It is sad to see that the Ministry Of Health Perticuely the Health Minister is Trying to Hide these Facts Despite Holding an Inquiry on this by saying that No Drug was Removed From The Hospital Due To Quality Failure.

Lanka Indian Oil To Reduced The Petrol Price From Midnight Today Comply With Supreme Court Order


Lanka Indian Oil Who Owned Substantial Shares In the Sri Lankan Petroleum Industry Decided To Reduce the Price of a Petrol Liter to Rs.100 with the effect from Midnight Today(19) According to the Supreme Court Order.Earlier the Price of a Petrol Liter stood as Rs.122.However Ceylon Petroleum Corporation(CPC) Still Not Reduced their Petrol Prices as the Cabinet not giving Approval to the Supreme Court Order So Far.

Supreme Court Sent It's Order On Petrol Price Reduction To All Parties


Registrar of the Supreme Court says Today (19)that the Copies of the Court Order On Reducing of Petrol Lite To Rs 100 have been sent to All Parties including the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation(CPC)and to the Ministry Of Finance.Cabinet which met last night not able to take a decision on reducing the Petrol Price according to the Supreme Court Order saying that they still not received the Copy of the Court Order.Meanwhile Large Queue s have Seen In front of the Fuel Filling Stations Today like in the Previous day due to the Rumors of Petrol Shortage.

Fire Brigades Control The Fire At Lucky Plaza


Fire Brigades were able to Control the Spreading of the Fire further which broke out in Lucky Plaza Building,Colpetty which is in heart of colombo This Noon.Fire Fighters Rushed in to the Scene Soon after the Fire Broke Out.Army and the Police helped them to Rescue Dozens of Locals And Foreigners who were trapped inside the Building.The Fire is said to be started in the second floor and Spread towards the other floors afterwards.The Reason Behind the Fire is Still Not Known.

Cabinet Today Summon The Supreme Court Order On Reducing The Petrol


Cabinet is Due to Meet again This Evening To Review and Taken a Decesion to Reduce the Price Of Petrol Litre to Rs.100 according to the Supreme Court Order.Supreme Court yesterday Ordered Ceylon Petroleum Corporation(CPC) to Reduced the Petrol Litre effect from Midnight Yesterday(17) and the Copy of this order is due to send to the Cabinet Today..However Government yesterday Night said that the Price of the Petrol Litre will remain same till the Cabinet Receive the Copy of the Supreme Court Order.

World Bank Granted Rs.350 Million For Preventing The Spreading Of Avian Flu In Sri Lanka


World Bank has Granted Rs 350 Million For Take Measures to Prevent Spreading of Avian Flu In Sri Lanka Deputy Director General Of Health Services(Public Health)Dr.Palitha Mahipala Said Today(17).Health Ministry already Uplifted The Standard of the Government Hospital Laboratories,Conducting Awareness Programmes For Hospital Staff on Avian Flu and Bought medicinal Drugs for the Flu by using this Grant He Stressed.
At Present there is No Threat of Spreading Avian Flu in Sri Lanka but If the Disease is Spreading in our Neighboring India and Pakistan there is a risk of Transmitting the Disease here as well He Added.Dr.Mahipala Revealed this at a Seminar Held This Morning At the Health Education Bureau Regarding the Avian Flu.
