Sri Lankan Government Condemned Mumbai Attacks


Sri Lankan Government Condemned the Brutal Terrorist Attacks Carried out In Mumbai ,India Today(27) Media Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said Today during the Cabinet Briefing .The Attacks Carried out In Ten Places including the Popular Luxary Hotels the Tajmahal Palace And The Oberoi Trident in Mumbai saw killing Around 200 Died and 327 Injured.Muslim Militant Group Daccan Mujahideen Claimed the Responsibly of this Attack occurred early this Morning.Fourteen Policeman including the Riot Police Chief and 12 Foreigners were Killed during the confrontation.Militants Taken Few People As Hostages.

Eastern Provincial Docs To Stay In Colombo Till Their Demands Are Met


Due to the Health Ministry not Responding to their Demands including the Formation of a Security Council to Monitoring the Security of the Eastern Provincial Doctors the Doctors who Came to Colombo A week ago Decided to Stay here till their Demands are met.Even The Health Ministry Earlier announced that the Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva Submitted a Cabinet Paper to the Cabinet On Wednesday Regarding the Doctors Demands.However That Cabinet Paper was only On the Paying Compensation to the Two Doctors who were Killed Recently Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) Said Today(27).However GMOA is Hoping that the Health Ministry will Implement Their Demands by Tomorrow Without Extending the Problem Further says DR.Upul Gunasekara the Assistant Secretary of the GMOA.

Only Three Psychiatrists For Six Million Child Population In Sri Lanka


As the Mentaly Stressed Competitive Enviornment Prevails in the Education Sector,There are only Three Child Psychiatrists for Delivering the Services to the Six Million Child Population in Sri Lanka Says Child and Adolesent Psychiatrist Dr.Mrs.Swarna Wijethunga.Boys are having more Behavioral Problems and Around One Million Children needs to look after According to the Dr.Wijethunga Who is Attached to the Sri Lanka's Largest Children's Hospital The Lady Ridgway Hospital In Colombo.Between 18 to 22 Percent of Children are having Clinicaly Identified Mental Disorders and 17.8 Percent of the Children who reached the Age Five Not developed to Enter the Grade I she stressed.
"There are Large number of Children who are due to face Competitive Exams came to me complaining that they are having Chest Pain,Stomachache and other Disorders but they Don't have any of these except Mental Downfall" She added.Addressing a Media Seminar on Mental Health at the Galle Face Hotel on Tuesday Dr.Wijethunga Further said that Sri Lanka Not Only need to Produce more Child Psychiatrits but also need to prepare and Implement A National Child Mental Health Policy to Curb this situation.

Talks With Health Secretary Not Fruitful -Eastern Docs To Continue Stay In Colombo


All Eastern Provincial Doctors who came to Colombo Last Monday following the killing of their colleague Attached to Navakkadu Hospital decided to Stay here till The Ministry Of Health Taking Remedy Action to Fulfill their Demands including the forming of a Security Council to Monitor Security in the Eastern Doctors and Rs.Ten Million Insuarance Scheme Per Doctor.The Discussion held in this regard between the Health Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage and the Members of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) Today(25) ended Up with Mixed Fortunes as Secretary Promised to Provide the Eastern Doctors with Adequate Security and paying of the Risk Allowance for the North and Eastern Doctors after getting Treasury Secretary's Approval But not received a Good Response to other Demands including the forming of Security Council GMOA Said. Meanwhile the Minister Of Health Nimal Siripala De Silva is to Submit a Cabinet Paper regarding all the Demands of the GMOA to Cabinet Meeting Tomorrow(26).

GMOA Said That All Remaining Docs In Batticloe Will Come To Colombo If Their Demands Are Not Met


All the Tamil And Muslim Government Doctors Remained in the Baticaloe District will Come to Colombo this Weekend Unless The Health Ministry not taken Immediate Action To Provide the Doctors in The East An Adequate Security,Risk Allowance and Ten Million Rupee Insurance Policy said the Assistant Secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association(GMOA)Today(24).The Discussion scheduled to be held today in this Regard between the Health Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage and the GMOA canceled and it will be held Tomorrow(25) Morning."The Departure of the Sinhalese Doctors of the Eastern Province who already return to Colombo on Security Reasons will decided if we Received a Favorable Response for Our Demands in the meeting" Dr.Gunasekara stressed during an Packed Media Briefing Held today in colombo.

Sri Lanka To Use Successful Cuban Methods Of Reducing Mosquito Density And Leptospirosis


Health Ministry Today(24) decided to Use The Successful Preventive Measures used by the Cuban Government to Control the Mosquito Density and the the Leptospirosis after the Discussions held between Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mrs.Sinsina Castro Dewara and Health Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva in this regard .According to the Health Ministry Sources A Bacteria Used to Destroy Mosquito Lava Will use for Reducing the Mosquito Density and An Effective Injection use for Leptospirosis will use to Prevent the Spreading of disease.
The Pilot Project for using these Methods is to be Implemented in the Colombo District Around January Next Year and the Cuban Government will Supply the required Bacteria and the Injections free of charge for this project Ministry Sources further added.

Ten Percent Of The Colombo Population Prevelent For Stroke


According to the Recently Carried out Survey in the Colombo District it was reveled that Around 10 Percent of the District population (10 out of 1000 people) are prevalent of having A stroke during their life Acting president of the National Stroke Association Professor Saman Gunathilaka said yesterday (21).There are No National Survey Done in this Regard but it is believe that there are large number of People who are suffering from stroke he added.Diabetese,High Blood pressure,Heart Attacks,Heavy Drinking and Smoking pave the way for Stroke and in sri lanka There are only Two Stroke Rehabilitation Centers one at Colombo National Hospital and Other at Kurunagala Hospital to look after these patients according to The Professor Gunathilaka.
Blocking a Blood Vessel or Blood Flow to the Brain Caused the Stroke he stressed.He Reveled this At a Press Briefing held in Colombo regarding a International Stroke Meeting held during the ongoing Annual Academic Sessions of the Collage Of Neuro Surgeons.Professor Graham Venables the President of the International Stroke Federation said that Organizing the Care given to the Stroke Patients is important when treating the disease
