Six Containers Full Of Drugs Stored In Ratmalana And Paliyagoda SPC Stores Are Expired?


Six Containers full of Imported Unnecessary Drugs Worth Millions Of Rupees stored in State Pharmaceuticals Co-Operation's(SPC) stores in Ratmalana and paliyagoda are Expired or nearing to Get Expired Due to Not using them. it also Reducing the Space for Storage of Newly Arrived Essential Drugs Imported for the Government Hospitals SPC Sources said.Out of these Drug Containers Two Containers are in Ratmalana Stores and Four are in Paliyagoda stores belongs to the private Contractor Of the SPC. Some of these Drugs are already Expired according to the SPC Sources.
Spending Large amount of Money to Import Large Stock of Unnecessary Drugs instead of Essential Drugs is Waste of SPC Money Sources further added. Ratmalana SPC Stores only allowed to Store Drugs worth around Rs 600 Million but at Present there are more then Rs.1000 Million worth of Drugs in the Stores sources stressed.

Fuel Prices , Vat Tax Are Decreased - Salaries And Allowances Of the State Employees Increased From The Budget


Fuel Prices and VAT Tax Decreased,and Salaries of the Government Employees Increased From the Budget Proposals Presented to the Parliment By Sri Lankan President and Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksha Yesterday(06).Under the Budget Proposals Prices of Diesel Litre Reduced by Rs.30,Petrol Litre by Rs.15 and Kerosene Oil by Rs.20.Salaries of the Government Employees increased by Rs.1000, VAT Tax Imposed on Imported Goods Decreased from 15 Percent to 12 Percent but the Cess Tax Imposed on Imported Chocolates and Biscuits Increased from 50 Percent.
The Festival Advance Paid to the Government Employees Increased from Rs.2000 to Rs.5000,the Infants of the Low Incoming Families to Receive Monthly Allowance of Rs.200 , the Cost Of Living Allowance of the Retired Employees increased from Rs.560 and the same Allowance of Present Employees is increasing Rs 1000 to Rs.4500.
The Monthly Allowance Paid to the Security Personal Deployed in the Battle Front also Increased from Rs.3000 to Rs.5000 and Rs 3000 Million Allocated for the Rehabilitation of LTTE Terrorists under this years Budget.New Nation Building Tax of 1 Percent Introduced from the Budget.
The Budget Deficit Stands as Rs.337 Billion.Most Analysts said that to Bridge the Gap of the Budget Deficit Sri Lanka have to rely on Foreign Borrowings and the Debt Interest will Increase if not Implementing a Proper Policy when Re paying the Debt.

Large Number Of Food Stocks Not Suit For Human Consumption In 1584 Eating Houses Are Destroyed


Food Inspectors Attached to the Food Control Unit of the Ministry Of Health Destroyed Large Stock of Rotten Food not Suitable for Human Consumption prepared by 1584 Eating Houses Throughout the Island and Taken Legal Action against 314 Eating Houses who are prepared Food Badly.There are small canteens as well as Fast Food Selling Otlets and Star Hotels Among these Eating Houses.This Raid had been carried out during 20th and 21st of October and around 26,989 Eating Houses (around Thirty Percent out of the Whole)Inspected during the raid.Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva To day(05) gave Instructions to Dr.P Mahipala the Deputy Director General Of Health Services(Public Health)to Inspect the Rest of The Eating House From Next Month.

Food Contractors Stop Supplying Food To Four Major State Hospitals Due To Not Receive Their Payments


Private Contractors who are Supplying Food To the Government Hospitals Stop Supplying Food Items to Four State Hospitals Due to Not receiving their Payments for the Service from the Health Ministry.Food Supply to the Anuradhapura Teaching,Kurunagala Teaching ,Badulla General and the Rathnapura General Hospitals put on Halt due to this and Hospital Authorities Buying Food from their respective Hospital Canteens and Provided to the patients Health Sources said Today(04).
Anuradhapura Hospital Authorities said that they need Rs.8 Million to pay For their Food Contractors for the last Three Month Period.
Meanwhile Highlighting this Issue and the Burden put onto the Patients Shoulder Due to This All Ceylon Health Services Union To Day Sent a Letter to the Health Secretary Dr.Athula Kahanda Liyanage and Urged Him to take Necessary action to Solve this Problem.Other State Owned Hospitals too Faced Similar Problems and altogether Around Rs.100 Million need to pay for the Food Contractors of these Hospitals Union said.If the Ministry is Not Taken any step to settled this Payments the Food Supplies of These Hospitals too may Stopped union further added.
