Heavy Fighting In Point Pedro-Four LTTE Boats Destroyed And Fourteen Tigers Killed


Four LTTE Boats were Destroyed and Fourteen Tigers Killed and another Sixteen were Injured when heavy confrontation erupted between the Sri Lankan Navy and LTTE sea Tigers at Nagarkovil in the Point Pedro This Morning(01).Five Sailors got Injured During the confrontation.Meanwhile Air Force Jets which came to support the Navy Destroyed two LTTE Boats.

Shell and Laugfs Reduced Gas Prices


Two Gas Supplying Companies In Sri Lanka The Shell Gas and the Laugfs Gas Reduced the Prices of their 12.5 Kg Gas Cylinder By Rs.78 and Rs.181 Respectively effective from Midnight Today(31).According to the Revised Prices the price of a 12.5 Kg Shell Gas Cylinder is Rs.1785 and the Price of a Laugfs Gas Cylinder will be Rs.1679.

SPC Imported Low Quality Surgical Gloveses For State Hospitals On Sum Of Rs.7.57 Million


Medical Supplies Division(MSD) of the Health Ministry Ordered the State Pharmaceuticals corporation(SPC) to Send the Whole Stock of the Sterile Surgical Gloveses(Pairs) Purchased from Malaysian Drug Company "Advanta Health Malaysia" for Rs.7.57 Million(70,800 us Dollers) to the supplier and to ask the Supplier to Re-pay the Money they paid as there are so many Deficiencies in these Gloveses.The Deficiencies including Not Labeling them Properly , Expiering Date Not appear Properly,Not Printing a State Logo in these Gloveses Sources said.According To the Reliable Sources of the Ministry Of Health, so many complaints are received from the Surgeons of the State Hospitals regarding these Gloveses saying that There is a short supply of these as 195 Gloveses Contained in a Box that should have contained 200 Gloveses.Some District Hospitals Received Boxes contained 185 Gloveses as SPC already spent the Whole Amount when Purchasing these Gloveses.The Money Spent on these Gloveses Cannot get Back and it is a Waste of Public Funds Ministry Employees said.
Due to Not Labeling them and Not Mentioning The Correct Expiery Date It Could be Suspect that their Quality may be not up to the Standard and Patients are having a Risk of Getting Infections due to this Sources Further Added.Although The Medical Supplies Division Rejected
Accepting these Gloveses It has been reported that Still they are Distributing to the Hospitals Under the Instructions of the Higher Officials Of the Ministry Of Health and the SPC.

Due to The High Sweetness And Acid Levels Soft Drinks Became Dangerous For Health


Studies had been revealed that one Bottle of Sweetened Soft Drink Bottle including colas is containing more than 8 Teaspoons of Suger and Higher rate of Acids Health Ministry said Today(30).Some Of the Acid Levels Contained in some of the Soft Drinks are more than the required Level Ministry says.Due to the Higher Level of Sweetness and Acid Level of these Soft Drinks it will lead to Diseases like Dental Disorders and Diabetes Doctors said.
Even The PH Rate used to measure the Acid Levels in these Soft Drinks are lower then required they said.The Required PH Level should be there in a Soft Drink Bottle is more than 2.2 but most of the Drinks The PH rate is lower then that it was revealed.
