Laugfs Gas also Increased


Adding Fuel to the rising Cost of living in Sri Lanka Laugfs Gas Company is to be increased the price of their 12.5 kg Gas Cylinder by Rs.189 with the effect from Midnight today.The new price of the Laugfs Gas will be Rs.1857.Shell Gas increased their prices Last Night.

Director of the National Blood Center and another Doc Interdicted over the Expired Blood Kits Scandal


The Secretary to the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka Today(01) Interdicted the Director Of the National Blood Center Dr.(Mrs) Mangalika Bindusara and Dr.M.I.L.A Nazir attached to the Center with Immediate effect in connection with the using of controversial Expired Blood Kits.
Health Secretary taken this action under the instructions made by the Public Services Commission(PSC). PSC ordered the Health Secretary today to Interdicted these two officials after examining a report presented by the Special Investigations Bureau of the Ministry of Health in this regard. Earlier Dr.Bindusara was transfered to the Family Health Bureau and Dr Nazir was transfered to the Angoda Mental Hospital under the recommendations of the Inquiry Report to assure an unbiased and impartial inquiry.
Final Report of the Inquiry scheduled to be handover to the Health Secretary soon.

Shell Gas Price up by Rs.126

Shell gas to increase the 12.5 kg gas cylinder by Rs.126 with the effect from Midnight today(31).The new price will be Rs.1863.Consumer Affairs Authority is approved the price increase.However it is reported that Shell Gas requested from the authority a price increase of Rs.244.60 .
In part of the Shell Gas Company's decision to increase the price of a Gas Cylinder the Laugfs also requested the Consumer Authority a Price Increase of Rs.192.45 for their Gas Cylinder which is yet to be considered by the Authority.

Bomb Blast in Fort area injured 45 people


Sri Lankan Capital Colombo Rocks today after a Bomb Blast occurred in the Fort area this noon Injuring 45 people .Three of the injured were in a serious condition. most of the Injured who were admitted to the Accident Service of the National Hospital suffering Minor Injuries from burns and the blast shock waves according to the Hospital Sources.No deaths were reported.
This is the first Bomb Blast occurred in the Colombo City since 16th of May this year when a Suicide Bomb Claimed 12 lives including 8 police officers and injuring 85 people.Eye Witnesses said that Suddenly a big sound was heard and people screamed and ran in all directions.Fort area was crowded during the weekends due to the shoppers.the bomb identified as a small one and it was placed near an Apple Vendor.

Govt.expenditure on Drugs are on increase


The Expenditure on Drugs Imported for the State Hospitals this year has increased to Rs.2500 Million compared to the last year according to the Dr.Hemantha Benaragama the director of the Medical Supplies Division.Last year Government spent Rs.10,500 Million for Importing Drugs for the State Hospitals and for this year Govt.spent Rs.13,000 Million.
Due to the opening of New Hospitals and New Hospital Wards and Units the requirement of Drugs for the Hospitals are on increase and due to this Govt.need to spend an extra amount of money to purchasing Drugs for the State Hospitals Dr.Benaragama Said.

Despite Sri Lankan Cricket team became losers in the one day match series against India sri lankan sports loving public have something to cheer about when Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Vaas became fourth bowler in the history of one day cricket to take 400 wickets.He achieved this feet on a day night match against India last Wednesday when he had Indian batsman Yuvaraj Singh's wicket.Before Vaas Sri Lankan Off Spinner Muththayya Muralitharan,Pakistani Pace Bowlers Waqar Yunus and Wasim Akram achieved this feet.
